Size: 11-Piece Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Some quick background about me... I cook almost daily. Prior to this Cuisinart set, my daily pans were a set of commercial non-stick anodized aluminum and a few pieces of Calphalon copper cookware (chef's pan, 3 qt. saute). I see my pots and pans as tools and not really works of art so my copper pans lost their brilliance years ago.

I wanted to write a review immediately but decided to make sure I got some real cooking time with them to see if there were any surprises. This review represent about two weeks of twice daily cooking experience with the Cuisinarts. I'll try to break this review down into the various components. If you have questions, I'll do my best to keep up with this review to answer them. I'll try to keep basic kitchen knowledge to a minimum but I feel that for a proper review a few things have to be mentioned. I'll sometimes compare them to my Calphalons when I feel it's appropriate.

Pans Interior & Cooking:
* If you're used thin bottom steel pans and/or teflon coated pans, be prepared for a very different way of cooking with these. It's not difficult. In fact, I'd say it's much better for most styles of cooking. But you'll almost definitely go through an adjustment period.
* The inside steel cooking surface on the Cuisinart's is very smooth. So much so that the sides of the skillets are like a mirror. The other interior surfaces are a nice "brushed" finish.
* As I mentioned earlier, these are not "non-stick" pans but cooking an omelette was easy with a generous amount of butter. Flipping the entire omelette with a flick of the wrist was effortless. Eggs are probably the only thing that I would still consider using non-stick for but, as mentioned, it's entirely doable if you want to stick with just this set.

I just received this set in the mail today. I was surprised by how big the box was that they came in and I immediately delved into the box. Each pot and pan that I pulled out was not only beautiful, but extremely heavy. I immediately started washing each piece and I was somewhat amazed by how the water gathered, I know that sounds strange but it felt like I was washing a non-stick instead of stainless steel, this added to my excitement because I couldn't help but wonder if it meant that things would not stick like they do in my other stainless steel cookware. Next, I took one of the skillets and cooked a chicken breast, covered it, lost track of time and ultimately (accidentally) left it in the skillet for 15 minutes (on low). Keep in mind that I did not flip the chicken. I tossed it in a plate and ate it, it tasted like all the flavor had been maintained, the top was just as cooked as the bottom which proved the even cooking and the pan was a breeze to clean. The only thing that seemed weird was that the bottom of the pan turned this brilliant color, I am not sure why or if that will go away.

This is the part where I put my two-cents into other peoples cons.
1. The lids are great, they are not flimsy at all, they are just lids. They are sturdy and not bendable at all, they serve their purpose and seal the pots and pans perfectly.
2. I am impressed with the steamer and am happy that the set came with it as it will be incredibly useful.
3. I think that the sizes of the pots and pans are perfect. They are all standard sizes and the sauté pan is huge!

Overall, this is a bargain. I paid $358 for the set with tax and I truly feel like I got a steal. This set is EASILY as nice as a $3000 set that I seen at a cooking show.

You should be very cautious when you purchase this item. I just received my order and every cookware has a serious defect on them - scratch mark, signs or pre-use in shop (burnt mark), and dent. It seems like Cuisinart wanted to get rid of their outlet's leftover. I am on the process of refund.

I think they should mention on the product description that they will deliver B-grade products, not the normal store grade. Also, the Cuisinart discontinued these products, so you wont be able to get a replacement under the warranty.

The product is not a bargain, if you live near any of Cuisinart's factory outlet. +It didn't even come in the Cuisinart box, but amazon packaging.

+additional note: I purchased this set from Amazon's cyber monday deal.
+I just got a confirmation e mail from amazon for refund -their explanation is "damaged during transit". but actually the original product was damaged, not the packaging.
Anyhow, Amazon was very prompt on the follow up on my complain. I will continue shop at Amazon because of their good service.

I just want to start this review by saying every review is valuable.

Now how I feel about this set....my husband is a chef and I bought this set for him to use at home while cooking for us or for dinner parties. People talk about the handles being hot, discoloration, and upkeep. This is a professional cook set, not for weekend parties. Every chef I know never touches a handle, they use a rag to pick them up. Chefs don't care how pretty a product is. They just care that a product delivers predictable heat distribution.

This set isn't meant to be pretty. Granted copper is beautiful. Copper is used by chefs around the world because of it's heat conductivity. Not because it is pretty.

They deliver gorgeous food every time, when used properly. People complain about how hard they are to clean. Only if they aren't seasoned. You season these like you do you cast iron, which makes them more flavorful and non-stick.

Go to Petsmart and ask about buying a parakeet and tell them you have nonstick cookware in the house. They will tell you that you can't have a bird because the Teflon(trademarked) or other nonstick material puts off a toxic fume. I am not kidding, google it. I would rather season a good set of pots and pans than use a set that is proven to kill animals because of the fumes it puts off while being used.

Bottom line, this set is for professional sets. Not those who dabble in cooking and just want something pretty to look at.
