This works exactly as advertised. The build quality is surprisingly solid. Also, with a very simple and cheap "mod" (you can hardly even call it that) it will hold the PS Vita securely when using remote play. All I did was use a medium binder clip and attached it to the top of the Nyko Smart Clip. Once the binder clip is attached you can removed the arms, and adjust the depth of the arm-less binder clip as needed to hold the Vita in place. I found that the bottom of the PS Vita is held in place nicely by the Nyko Smart Clip, so no "mod" is needed there. The nice thing is that the binder clip can be easily removed should you want to use this for a different device.

I'll add a photo when I have a moment.

This works great for the Dell Venue 8 Pro (see pic I submitted) with room to spare! The angle is adjustable which is perfect depending on where I'm playing. If I'm on the couch I can adjust it to something a bit more upright, if I'm in bed it will be leaned back a bit, all this can be done on the fly. Just loosen the thumbscrew a bit, angle it to your preference, then tighten it. This luxury isn't available on alternatives such as the GameKlip.

It's a perfect solution if you want to stream your PC games to your tablet wherever you are in the house using Steam In Home Streaming. This solution is much nicer than the nVidia Shield, with my 8" IPS display and a full PS4 controller. It also means you won't have to have a Nvidia GPU for the streaming experience.

For $10 this is a steal! I'm tempted to get the Xbox One version when Microsoft releases drivers for the controller, and maybe even get a few spares in case Nyko stops producing it.

Item works as advertised. The screws does a good job of holding the phone in the correct angle you want and there are rubber pads on the grips to cushion your phone and adjustable heights for different sizes of phones (up to a 7 or 8 inch tablet I guess, although it does make it a bit unwieldy if you are using such a big screen for this device).

2 niggles though. If you are using this with a phone with power and volume buttons on the sides (like my xperia z2), the grip does clamp down on the buttons and it does affect the functionality to an extent. I couldnt get it to grip my xperia Z2 without moving it to the side, which seems kind of awkward. Although this issue only affects xperia phones, where the power buttons are usually located in the middle. But then, this is for a ps4 controller, and if the guy is buying a Sony ps4, there is a chance he's using this with a sony phone if he wants to connect it as a 2nd screen for the playstation app or to use a ps4 controller to play games on the phone.....
I also felt the way it holds onto the controller could have been better implemented. basically, you need to fix the controller onto the clip using some rubber band thingy that attaches to the back. It's not easy to remove and the bands can be easily misplaced if you remove your controller (they do give u extra bands). I had the gameklip for the ps3 and that did not require any bands to hold the controller in place.

The product is well built though, and works as advertised. Just felt more thought could have gone into how the controller and phone as held in place.

Bought this to use the DS4 with the PS Vita. By reading other reviews, this hardly can hold the vita since the vita is too thick (and I have the slim version). It will just fall right off.

A guy on youtube mod his smart clip with some plastic at the top and bottom to hold the vita firmly in place. I decided to do the same but had trouble finding the "correct" plastic to do the least amount of modding. I ended up buying a light switch wall plate (in black color) since it has the most important thing I was looking for aka edges that would hold the vita in place. I started cutting it in half vertically. Cutting the top and bottom edges off. I use one piece for the bottom and one for the top. I made the top short since I don't want it covering the vita's power/volume buttons. Started to sand down the pieces and also the "teeth" on the smart clip. I use 2 part epoxy to glue the top and bottom plastic pieces in place. I had it clip the vita to keep pressure while the epoxy cured.

I didn't really want to mod the smart clip in a way where I can't go back the the factory original, but since it's 10 bucks, I can always get another one. I use a dremel tool to do the sanding/cutting on the wall plate. Seem pretty excessive but it took 15 minutes to do.

If you have a Z3 or Z3 Compact do NOT buy this controller clip. The clip holds the phone on the sides where the power and volume buttons are. So your device will either have its volume altered as you play or you'll power off your device with a hard reset. If you care to rig it to get use you'll need to find a way to leave a gap between the clip and the phone as to not press any buttons. Unless you want your phone extremely off center as you play. Buy the official as it uses suction to not interfere with the side buttons. More expensive but it looks a lot nicer and functions quite well.
