These knives are just ok. They were sharp enough the first couple weeks but lost their sharpness quickly and need often to be resharpened. And we're just a two-person home, so the knives are lightly used. Within 3 months after purchase the paint or coating on the handles started peeling. This makes the knives look bad and also creates a place for bacteria to hide, and the handles feel unpleasant in my hand, with those sharp edges of that hard peeling coating coming off. I'm shopping for better knives now and will stay clear of Hampton Forge. By the way, I don't put knives in the dishwasher, I always wash my knives by hand, I use Dawn dishwashing liquid, no abrasive scrubbing. So the peeling of the paint is clearly a manufacturing flaw and not due to lack of care on my part.

I had my eye on this set for several years. Finally got them for Christmas, December 2014 from my fiancée. I was so excited and they were great at first. However, the red, which was the reason I wanted them in the first place, started coming off after a few months. Disappointed!
