I purchased one of these direct from Noble Locks to fit my latest Dell (Inspiron 15 7548). I am really quite unimpressed with how wobbly the product is in the new Noble Security Slot. If this is supposed to be an improvement over the K lock, they have a whole lot of work to do before it's even close.

Look, part of the the selling point of locks is they need to look and feel secure. Because, lets face it, these things are to discourage the lazy, unprepared thief. A wobbly lock, such as this, might make one wonder if it's possible to wedge something in the gap and pry it loose. That, in of itself, is a product failure.

Would I recommend this to a friend? I'm thinking I not only wouldn't recommend these wedge locks, I would be hard pressed to recommend a laptop, netbook, tablet, or ultrabook that uses this system to anyone who takes their device(s) outside the home.

*Edited to add how the lock works:
To lock it in place, you place the angled wedge (this part never moves) into the Noble Security Slot. Once it is in place, you slide the button towards the laptop (and the slot) and a retractable piece of metal slides out and into the slot to "wedge" the device in.

In order to unlock it (and get the button to slide back), you press the supplied key in all the way until it clicks. It doesn't turn like most keyed locks do, but it does work.

In summary, I am not docking the product for the weird key system it has, but how wobbly and insecure feeling it is when it is supposed to be locked. What absolutely kills me about this is the fact that it could probably be made to feel less wobbly and insecure with a simple gasket and/or shim. Wait, I wonder if I could manage to put a ring of RTV around the inside edge.... I'll try it and let ya'll know.

Worked well with our new Dell M3800 laptops. Many low profile laptops now use these locks instead of the Kingston locks. They are not the same.

Why they keep changing locking mechanisms I don't know but it works. Wish it were a combination and not a key.
