These IRIS boxes are awesome for storing files; you can take your hanging files right out of the drawer and right into this box (legal or letter will work). The stack nicely and no dust or bugs get into them. I use this for all of my clients who need to hang onto paperwork for IRS limits and since everything is neatly organized, if you need to find something from a prior year, it's so, so convenient!!! And since they are sturdy, they won't collapse like the cardboard banker's box. LOVE, love these boxes and if you want a better hanging file folder (one without the silly plastic tab), check out the Smead FasTabs Hanging File Folders.

I'm a knitter with about 50 years of yarn that was all kind of unorganized in large boxes. So, when making something new, I had no idea what I had, and bought new. Not an optimal arrangement. Now, I'm using these to finally get my yarn stash organized. These boxes are clear so I label one side with the type of yarn, but I can still see colors through the sides. The size is perfect. They are stackable, so I can use a column of 4, but still be able to move one box to get at lower ones. I'll be getting more as soon as I start attacking the next room

Wonderful product for my hanging file folders! My old file cabinet was recently damaged and I needed something reasonable in price to hold all our files...we settled on this product because we can now split up the files in a way that works for us. Owners manuals and warranties etc etc can go in the storage area and I can have one box out with month to month needs. The fact that they are also clear is a major bonus, icing on the cake here. Very heavy duty. Very happy with our purchase.

I have quite a few of these Iris storage containers in my home. I've purchased them at various big-box retailers, at different times over the past few years, and there are at least four variations that I'm aware of (and I have a few of each). Each of these storage boxes will hold the same amount of files or other papers, and they are both stackable and more or less interchangeable, but there are differences in how they are made:

- FB-21 model: 13 7/8" W x 18 1/4" L x 10 3/4 " H. The top lip of these containers is smooth on all sides and there is no handle molded into the lip (I don't find these on Amazon at the moment)
- FB-21E model or FB-21E model: 14 1/4" W x 18 1/16 L x 10 13/16" H. The top lip of these containers incorporates a handle on the two shorter sides.
- FB-21 (?) model: with latches and 'store and slide' grooves in the lid.
- Weathertight model with Latches and Foam Seal

The measurements for the first two variations above are from the labels on the ends of the boxes that I have myself. I have the weathertight model as well but don't have the label any longer so I don't know how it is advertised, but the dimensions are also given here on the Amazon page.Read more ›

I bought these before and found them so handy that I just ordered another set. I've thrown out my file cabinets. They are sturdy, easy to open and close, easy to handle, and well designed. Not only good for filing but also good for storing and moving things. Can be used with either legal or letter sized folders and works as well either way. Files slide along the grooves very easily.

I love these file boxes. I use them to store everything from dog supplies to clothes. They hold up well to constant use so I've turned some of mine into drawers for my Brylanehome 5-Tier Metal Closet With Hanging Rod. If you pack them vertically, you can get a lot of shoes into one of these boxes without squashing the shoes (think of a cubby turned on its back).

The finish of the plastic part diffuses the contents so that you can see what's in the box but it is subdued so the contents are visible but not noticeable unless you are really looking for something. I've found labels stick well to the boxes if you like to label contents.

I've used Iris boxes for many years and they have held up to a remarkable amount of abuse. They sometimes cost a little more but for long-term use, they are actually very reasonably priced.

Perfect for all of our filing needs. Needed something other than a HUGE filing cabinet (which we didn't have room for). Now we can put our most important stuff in on box and pop it in the closet. The rest we can secure them where else we can put them. If we need anything we put a label on the front of the box and no issues.

But like other reviewers, 1 whole box and 2 covers were cracked and broken and I threw a whole box and lid right in the trash. Fortunately, I only needed 3, but unfortunately, they cost a lot so I would like to get what I paid for.
