So I bought this speaker because I work in a cubicle on an office floor and I wanted to listen to my music to add a little bit of enjoyment to my dreary work days. Based on the reviews I thought I would pick this up.
Let me just say if you are just using this at home or a different scenario other than mine that it is a great speaker. It's small, compact and the sound is clear and great. When I pair it to my iPod there is a separate battery indicator that pops up on it for the Solemate that is really useful. I'd give it a 5 if I just bought it to use around the home or elsewhere but there are a couple things I don't like about it that make it difficult to use at work:
1) Everytime you turn it on it HAS to make this loud chime noise. There is no way to turn it down or off. It makes that sound. I feel awkward at work turning it on because of that. Could do without that completely.
2) The disembodied voice. If you push the battery indicator button for anything I says the battery level. REALLY LOUD. If you connect your device to it it announces that it's connected. REALLY LOUD. Again there is no way to turn it down or off. It's annoying. In a cubicle farm having that blast out is just embarassing and unnecessary.
3) The low volume. It only goes down so far. It should be able to turn all the way down. On the lowest volume its not quite low enough for me to put next to me at work. I put it behind my computer. I wish it had the ability to turn all the way down.
So, in short, it really is a great little speaker but not for what I intended to use it for. I'm going to use it for a week and see if I can live with it otherwise I will return it.

We have a new software update for Jabra Solemate Mini at the link below:

This update lowers the overall volume of these prompts so that they are not so loud. The update also allows you to now play Jabra Solemate Mini at an even lower volume with iOS devices. (iPhone, iPad etc)
Alternatively, if the Voice Prompts are still to loud you can simply turn them off by holding the "Volume -" button while turning Jabra Solemate Mini "On". Keeping holding the button until you get notified the Prompts are off. (The power on and off sound still plays, but at least the 'Connected' and 'Battery Status' prompts are gone.)
Hope that helps improve things for you!
