I've always enjoyed a cup of this at my local Barnie's, so I was more than ecstatic when I found it at my grocery store. Upon opening the bag, I noticed the color was a bit strange and promptly looked at the ingredients. This coffee is colored with titanium dioxide. It's what makes white paint white, used as a sunblock and more recently was removed from Dunkin Donuts' powdered sugar. It's used as a whitener in many foods, cosmetics, etc, etc. (Google it)
It has however been put on a list of possibly carcinogenic to humans, which is why Dunkin scrapped it. So why is it in my coffee? Why expose your consumer to a potentially harmful substance when it's not necessary? My guess is that they thought it was more festive after brewing because it looks a little snowy on the used grounds. (I'll try and post a picture.)
I eagerly await them to remove this from the coffee.
