This is an amazing polish in many ways. I've never seen anything quite like it before. After an Orly Bonder base coat, I applied three coats of it to ensure opacity. I immediately applied Seche Vite top coat in two coats (this top coat is supposed to be applied while polish is wet, and the last coat was still wet when I applied it). On a Silver Platter applied well and dried quickly. I did the two coats of top coat to smooth it out, because it acts a bit like a hungry giltter.

In normal indoor lighting, it's silvery with some blue specks running through it. In brighter indoor lighting, the holographic nature of the glitter starts to become apparent. Also, when the light reflects off the silver at the right angle, the glitter almost disappears. This polish really comes into its own outdoors, though. In direct sunlight, it's dazzlingly bright. It's a little hard to look at in sunlight, actually. Between the reflective silver and the holographic blue glitter, it's like a party on my nails! My friend joked that I could stick my hand out the car window and cause an accident.

It doesn't always look fully silver. It sometimes seemed to lean a little toward a gold, but never enough to actually look like gold. Maybe it was warmer lighting causing it. I'm not sure.

Unfortunately, like many metallic polishes, it does chip more readily. It chipped after the second day. I usually don't have chipping until the 5th or 6th days with most polishes because I use quality base and top coats. Thankfully, this polish can be patched without being obvious. Its texture allows for that. I knocked only one star off rather than two because it's easily patched.

It's one of the most unusual polishes I've encountered. It has its subtle moments and its in your face moments. I don't regret buying it at all, but I do wish that it lasted a little longer.

This polish is super pretty, and can be used either alone or on a top coat. I like that the gold is a very warm gold, rather than very yellow-y. My main complaint is that this polish chips super easily! Even with a clear top coat applied, I found bits of it coming off on the second day, so if you are obsessed over having a perfect manicure, this might not be for you. It's a big contrast to other Essie brand polishes I've used where they pretty much never come off! I'll still continue to use it, but probably only on my "short-term" styles.
