We live in the coldest city in the continental US, so we have snow on the ground from November through April. In our climate, this scooter works very well because there is always a base layer of snow on the street. Our kids ride them around and around our cul de sac. They also go through the yard where the snow is deeper, but it's hard going and they're just goofing around at that point. This is a great toy for kids who are too young to really go cross country skiing or snow shoeing effectively (5-8). It gets them out, getting some exercise when the snow is too cold for packing and there's not a ton to do with it. If you live in a place where the snow tends to dump and melt quickly, you might not be able to use these as much, because they really are more fun on a packed base layer of snow.

It's more for groomed trails and not deep snow. The back ski flips forward a lot and my son had to keep putting it back in the right postion. Snow gets packed on the foot base, making it difficult to put your foot on it. He did use it on our driveway and sidewalk area, but really wanted to use it on small hills. The snow was maybe 5 inches deep and he would just sink. I think it works best on snowy sidewalks or areas that are groomed for sledders or skiers. It did keep him busy, trying it all different ways he could.

We got this snow kick scooter for our 12 year old son for Christmas. Just getting around to reviewing it now. He loves it. It's very lightweight but durable. It folds up which is great for storage. We didn't have a huge amount of snow last winter, so he didn't get to use it much, but there's always next year:) I had a lot of people asking me where we got it. Nobody had seen anything like it before.

I purchased this because we saw another one at a bike rental shop at a resort. We looked it up and ordered it for riding around in the snow. This worked perfectly in the snow and it's built pretty sturdy. Several adults weighing more than 140 pounds have been using it and so have the kids. We have a bunch of just regular scooters that we take camping and out with skateboards, but this is the first one we have used on the snow. It is a lot of fun comes already assembled and collapses for easy storage when there isn't snow on the ground. We purchased the red one. Overall this is a well constructed kick scooter and so far everyone that has ridden it, has loved it.
