I received my board in mid February 2014. Upon trying a clean install of Windows 8 Pro 64 bit from Microsoft discs, I was met with nearly continuous errors. I managed to get the 32 bit version going, but even that was a bear. After installing over 200 updates for Windows version 8.0, I was allowed to download and install the version 8.1 update. I also downloaded all of the available hardware updates. Even so, I was suffering a lot of Blue Screen of Death errors and automatic reboots, and installing the ATI R7 video drivers always resulted in a blank screen condition. I kept having to fight to get back into safe mode to enable the basic Windows video drivers. Then I checked my BIOS version and found it was v.307, the original release version. The A10-7850 processor that I was using required version 704 or later, with the current version as of today (March 4th) being 907. There have been 9 updates, 4 of which came out in January 2014 alone, and most tagged as "system stability" updates.

Updating was easy - copy the current BIOS file from the Asus website to a USB flash drive, plug it into a USB port; reboot and hit F2 to enter the BIOS. On the advanced screen, select update BIOS, then select the file from the list (your hard drive, CD player, etc. will also show up on the list if connected). Click on install update, sit back for about a minute, click "OK" to reboot, then F1 to re-enter the BIOS to select settings. I just selected the default settings, and booted up in Windows. Now the ATI video drivers are working great, and no more crashes! Now I'm going to try a fresh install of Win8 64 bit on the partition that I set aside when installing the 32 bit version, and expect all to go well.

Bought this to use in a new build for my daily driver PC. Paired it with an AMD A10-7850K and 16 gigs of ADATA USA XPG V1.0 OC Series 16GB DDR3 2133MHZ PC3 17000 8GBx2, Red AX3U2133W8G10-DR memory.

I'm not going to bore you with tons of specs or lengthy discussion of performance reviews. You can easily find that online. I'll just tell you how it worked for me.

I was impressed with the build quality of this board. Solid feel and every connector is placed for ease of connection. Nice thick PC board with minimal flex when screwing to standoffs or installing components. I couldn't see any issues at all on the board. Comes with all the connectors you need for a basic install and they are of good quality.

Installing the CPU, RAM, and mounting the CPU cooler were straightforward. Everything went solidly into place. I always build out of the case first and update BIOS before installing in the case. Upon powering up the board no issues were detected and my CPU and RAM were recognized by BIOS without issues. I had to manually set the timings for the ADATA dimms to achieve the full rated speed. Pretty much par for the course with some types of RAM and boards.

As far as the BIOS goes, this board should satisfy both newbies and advanced users. Either just boot it and let the board control everything or tweak settings if you like. There's a lot you can do with the BIOS on this board both good and bad, so some time to study the settings is in order.

I've been running this build on a fresh Windows 8.1 install since February with the addition of a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB GDDR5 dedicated GPU and have experienced zero issues. Runs and passes prime95, AIDA64 extreme, and 3dmark easily.

It's always hit or miss with new computer components but so far this one is a hit. Part of the reason I went with ASUS is I've had good luck with their boards in the past. Hoping for the same good luck with this board.

This is a killer mobo with tons of tweeker toys to scratch your over clocking itch.

ASUS supplies some heavy duty user and over clocking utilities but no glitzy media apps. This is a serious OC board. It has two PCI 3.0 Xe slots for ATI/AMD Crossfire video cards.

I highly recommend going to ASUS's website and download the pdf user manual to learn what this hotrod is capable of.

I purchased this about 2 weeks ago and have been installing the new system and such into this board. This board has excellent capabilities! After having the ROG Z board for year now the Bios on this one seems a bit limited, but it is still a great board! Asus has reduced their warrantees to only 3 years on this board, but being Asus, that is not really much a worry. If you are looking for the biggest, greatest, fastest Mobo out there, then this is just might not be what you are looking for, and you had prosibly best go for a ROG Asus board to get all you can get. But if you need a good stable and reliable system, this has a LOT to offer by far over many others out there.... most for a lot more money too! The built in video is no slouch! The USB 3.0 is fast and flawless in operation! I took this Mobo to replace a fast Dual SLI Mobo that died and did not even bother to add the High Performance video card. Again, when not into the extremes, this board can really save you a lot of money with all this, and, it is simply built onto it. It's built in test function for adding various memory sticks make it very easy, and if the BIOS setting crashes while setting it up, you push one onboard button and instant restart that works. Once again Asus has come up with a excellent product if used for the purpose that it is designed for. I am using this to do my business work, files, word processors, and graphics displays.... it will be an excellent choice and still have enough to have fun with some pretty good games too. If I ever (even) need to, I can always add a serious video card and sound card to it.... I am notlikely to need that though from all I have seen so far!

I hope this helps........ by the way, the AMD A6-6400+ processor I used runs in it at 4+GHZ with simple auto mode setup!
