    Carhartt makes all of their clothing on the big size for simple reasons. They are work clothes! The extra room is there because most people wearing bibs like to put either long johns,sweats etc underneath or throw the bibs on ever top of their clothes to do quick chores without changing. The extra length is to go over top of boots but if you aren't wearing a thick boot or clothing underneath then there is nothing taking up that extra fabric thus they are long. Bibs, overalls, jackets etc made by Carhartt ALL come oversized so that there is no bunching, riding up or constricting. They are made for comfort and work. When you work in these you are comfy, and don't have to worry about the waist showing your butt or things of that nature.
    Lastly, yes they changed the clasp and it is a bit tricky at first but you no longer have to worry about your shoulder straps coming undone when you are bending down a lot. The old clasp had a habit of coming loose if they weren't tight on your shoulder and if all you had on was the bibs and a tank they would fall down to your ankles if you stood up and didn't notice they had come undone (trust me I know from experience!) once you get the hang of the clasp it will be as easy as hooking and unhooking the old style.
    Here is a size guideline that I tell everyone I know and it seems to be spot on

    IF YOU NORMALLY WEAR A SIZE AND YOUR HEIGHT IS ORDER A SIZE

    00 to a 5 Under 5'4" Small Short
    00 to a 5 5'4" - 5'7" Small
    5 to a 8 Under 5'5" Medium Short
    5 to a 8 5'5" - 5'9" Medium
    8 to a 13 Under 5'6" Large short
    8 to a 13 5'6" - 6' Large

    This is just a guide and may not work for everyone but I came up with it and have used it when buying bibs for my workers and it has worked for me everytime. Good luck!

    i've been on a quest for overalls and coveralls for gardening that fit me. i'm 5' 3" and 115ish pounds. this is not an uncommon size, and there are plenty of ladies smaller than i am, yet most "work" clothes don't come in sizes that come close to fitting me. i ordered the x-small short and they are still quite roomy. i understand that roomy is probably how they are supposed to fit since overalls are designed to be worn over your clothes, but it makes me wish there was an xx-small (cause i'm totally not wearing those over other clothes besides a shirt and i don't think most people do)!

    i'm still giving them 4 stars because i do like them, and they're well constructed with nice details.

    I am trying to bring overalls back into fashion because I have always loved them. I am a teacher and both staff and students loved them. I am 5' 7" and about 150 lbs. I ordered the small and they fit perfectly. The denim is not stiff like other Carhartt pants, but it is not thin either. They are very comfortable and worn with a dressier top and the right accessories, they can be dressed up! I highly recommend them.

    My order arrived before estimated delivery which was a plus!
    When I received my order it was open??? Not sure if I could blame the seller for that.
    The clasps looked a little worn and the snaps were rusted, definite negative!
    Everything else looked new.

    Now for the Overalls,
    Based on the reviews that it ran large I decided to go with a small short. At 5'4 130 pounds bust 34 waist 27 hips 37.5 the small was roomy. The length was perfect. Any taller and I would have needed a regular. I can fit a pair of thick longjohns under it easy, and I could even get away with some tight jeans underneath. The style is non existent, I would only wear these for work, the crotch is low and weird looking.

    All in all I'd say 3 out out of 5 taking into consideration functionality, the condition it arrived in, and aesthetic appeal.

    These overalls fit like they are supposed to, loose but not falling off of you. I ordered a small and I'm 129 lb 5'5". I have some room but not slouchy looking. They are oh so comfortable and soft. Good quality material. I can bend down and do my gardening easily. No cutting you when you bend down. Side pockets are roomy. I remember having a pair and I would constantly have to resnap the clasp but these stay up. I love the new clasp they have for the straps. I will say that you will need a long shirt because when bending down the material may gap in between the snaps on the sides. Other than that small issue they are perfect. I immediately felt comfortable wearing them as soon as I put them on and let's be honest they look so cute on you. I looked for overalls for quite some time. What I found was not true overalls. Tight, too fitted and designed to try to look sexy. You're not going to look sexy but you are going to fall in love with these overalls.
