I bought this product from Amazon and the first one arrived and after carefully installing the card, my Windows 7 32 Bit Computer would not find new hardware after I install the card and rebooted. The light on the card would not light and the Driver on the CD would not install. Of course I thought the card was toast. Wrong, I sent the card back thinking it was bad and the new one arrived, same thing, Would not find new hardware after reboot ect. I did a google search for startech drivers and found the support site. Clicked on the picture that looked like my card and downloaded the driver. This time the driver installed. it was about a 64 MB Download and it installed flawlessly and I was then able to use windows to enter my wireless key. I hope this helps other people buying this card.

Smallest 300mbps wifi adapter I could fine & works as expected. Running Linux, it was hard to get working, though. The drivers on the StarTech.com site are very out of date for Linux. The device is a RTL8192EU & I had to find the deb package here: https://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/index.php?topic=86081.msg930664#msg930664 -- It didn't work with the latest gcc, though, because a warning gets marked as an error. I had to repackage the deb by adding -Wno-error=time-date to the Makefile inside. Anyway, I did all this already I uploaded the new driver here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bza9ecEdICHGSjZMUWtmUHM2em8/view?usp=sharing it will work with DKMS too, so no need to recompile every kernel update.

As an IT Manager I have found time after time that StarTech accessories are an excellent bang for you buck. I replaced an older Wifi card on a laptop with this and went from 1-3Mb to close to 50Mb (the limit of our Internet pipe and NOT the wifi adapter). This little guy is connecting at close to 250 Mbps at a range of about 40 feet. Nice!

It works great, gets the most out of your network speed available. I strongly recommend this product if you're planning on bringing your desktop to anywhere with WiFi available or find yourself in a situation where a wired connection is not an option.
*note*
If you're afraid it is not working because the green light does not turn on immediately after installing it do not worry! AFTER you install the driver it'll turn on.

Worked in Windows 10 right out of the box! I did not need to download any drivers from Startech or use the supplied mini-cd that had the drivers on it. It was totally plug and play for me. I literally took it out of the box and plugged it in and Windows 10 installed its driver and I was up and running in seconds. I have Verizon Fios 50/50 and I did the speedtest.net test and got 56/68 with this little adapter. Some background. I have a Samsung laptop that had the built-in internal Wi-Fi adapter go bad. I went into the bios and disabled the onboard Wi-Fi adapter and plugged the StarTech USB adapter in its place. The speed I am now getting is nearly double what the onboard adapter was capable of providing. I believe my onboard adapter was only a G standard compared to this new N version in the StarTech. Not sure if this has a lot to do with it or not, but I am getting maximum bandwidth from this little dongle. My laptop has only USB 2.0 which is plenty fast enough for this device. If you have a newer machine with USB 3.0, you might want to consider the AC version of this device unless your onboard Wi-Fi is already at that speed. I am totally impressed with the ease of installation and speed of this little adapter. If you upgraded to Windows 10 it should work out of the box, but I can't verify this since I did a clean install of Windows 10 on a new Samsung EVO SSD that I also put in the same laptop a week ago. Your results may very, but at a minimum, if it doesn't work out of the box like mine did, just install the drivers from StarTech.com under the "support" tab for this device and you will be fine.

I just went on a wireless kick, eliminating all wires that are in the way.
There are absolutely no issues with this item.
I left my Ethernet wire in place but unplugged for about a month, but now I will be taking them out permanently.
I can't believe that my speeds picked up from the wireless. They were great to begin with. Now topped out on speedtest.net.

I ordered this with zero reviews. I have an HP HPE series desktop with windows 7 I-5 Processor (purchased Christmas 2011). Needed wireless. Absolutely a novice to working on computers. Shut down the computer, plugged in the chip, fired up, plug and play worked perfectly. Using this with a Linksys wireless G router. Have no way to gauge speeds but does exactly what I need it to do.

Also came with a driver CD.

Make sure, when you read these reviews, that you're reading them for the actual product listed above (check "Style Name" above each review.) Based on several reviews mentioning Linux compatibility, I bought the "433 Mbps" model, only to discover that a mere 6 out of 120 reviews were actually for this product, and that it was not at all compatible with Linux. So I have no idea how good the actual product is, but the review system gets one star.
