I ended up buying the leather bracelet and replaced the leather with a 16mm NATO strap from Crown and Buckle. I prefer the way you mount the misfit on this setup and is great for the pool. As a watch enthusiast, change to a NATO strap was a no brainer. I have a large wrist 7 3/4 and the leather strap was on the last hole. On the NATO strap it is no longer an issue. Hope that helps

The main purpose of this review is to address getting the shine out of the leather band.

When you place the shine in the leather band, there is a "12" on the back of device so you can orient your device correctly. The first time I tried this, I put the 12 where 11 o'clock should be, so I wanted to take it out and try again. Except I could not remove the device. I tried for about an hour to no avail. However, I realized that I didn't need to take the shine out to change it's orientation. With some force you can turn the shine while it's in the band.

Just now (five days later) I decided to give it another shot and was able to get the shine out of the band. I had been searching the internet for advice, and one woman stated she had emailed a customer service representative and had received the suggestion "push hard." While somewhat obvious, for fear of breaking the device I had to get over the mental hurdle of exerting a lot of force on my shine for fear of breaking it or the band. I've now practiced installing and removing the Shine a few times and have outlined the steps below.

HOW TO GET THE SHINE OUT OF THE LEATHER BAND:
1) Remove the leather band from your wrist
2) Place one of your thumbs on the back of your Shine right in the middle (the side with the '12' aka the side touching your wrist)
3) Place your other thumb next to your first thumb to help push. Due to the size of the Shine, this thumb will probably be near the edge. Your first thumb will do most of the work but this will help add some force.
3) Place the mid-section of your pointer fingers on the front of the device. Position them on the metal portion between the Shine and the leather band so your fingers are stable and yet the Shine can still escape.Read more ›

I will hands down agree with anyone who says this is overpriced. It is and they should have either increased craftsmanship and material used or lowered the price. That being said there is no substitute and it looks pretty nice. I have no concerns about the shine falling out of it (was a big concern after other reviews of the rubber version). It also takes a standard 16mm band which means I can change the band material later if i want.... however its starting to look really good with age (I keep it on all the time so it gets wet and dirty and the leather is developing a nice patina) My first thought was that the leather was cheap and maybe even bonded. I can't tell if its solid or not but its holding up really well to wear so I'm starting to think its solid. I wish it was $30 that seems a fair price but still happy with the purchase at $50.

I bought this misfit leather band when I purchased my misfit shine. After a couple of months of 24-7 wear, I put my misfit shine into this leather band and that's when my disappointment began! Initially, I didn't like the way the band felt. It was stiff and uncomfortable, but I figured with wear it would soften up, since it's leather. After 4 days of wearing it 24-7, it was still stiff and uncomfortable so I decided to switch back to my rubber wrist band. I couldn't get my Shine to pop out! Over the next week, I had my husband try to pop it out several times. It wouldn't budge! I was so unhappy with the way it felt on my arm that I took it off and ended up leaving it off for a few days. Keep in mind, I hadn't taken it off at all since I bought it! It was so light and comfy that I wore it in the pool, shower, at work, when I sleep, etc! I looked online to see if anyone else had a problem with removing their shine from this band. One person said they had put it in "crooked", which is impossible. It was flat and seated well. It popped in easily, but just wouldn't pop out! After a week of trying to get my shine out of this band, Although it was still uncomfortable and stiff, I started wearing it again because I missed tracking my progress! One night as work, I had 3 of my coworkers take turns trying to pop it out. I didn't care if this leather band broke, I just wanted my shine back! It finally popped out and I am NEVER putting it back in this band! I'm returning it today!

I used a "16mm G10 Nato James Bond Heavy Nylon Strap Brushed Buckle - J13 Blue-Yellow-Blue" band with this and it looks great. It also fits a lot snugger than the sport band that was included.

I have had no problems with the Shine falling out or with removing the Shine. The leather quality seemed pretty good, but I bought it to use with NATO straps. The lug holes are close to the case for this but they work and I have changed color bands a couple times with no problems. There have been no scratches on the metal.

On the day that this item arrived, the attachment between the band and the face broke.

Looking at it, the leather is basically the lowest quality stuff that you can put in a product and call it "leather" and the attachment to the watch face is just a small plastic bar sticking through the metal, which in my case did not last more than one day.

I write few online reviews and have rarely been as disappointed with a purchase as I am with this product. Buyer beware. I am waiting on a response to my refund request from their customer service team. Hopefully they will do right by their customers.
