The vacuum pump itself works very well - I was hoping it would have a mechanical fastening system to the bags - like a twist lock. Instead, one must push the face of the intake port on the vacuum pump against the suction port on the bag and supply the seal by making sure the pump face is flat against the bag port and has enough pressure pushing the two together to provide a seal.
Once you get this procedure down the vacuum pump works vey well.

I DID TURN THE RUBBER GASKET AROUND TO GIVE IT A BIGGER SEALING SURFACE.

Bought this to use with the Ziplock space bags in our motorhome. Space is always an issue and this pump is small. It worked OK. You have to press down firmly to get a good seal as you pump because it doesn't fit "in" the vacuum hole on these bags, just on it.

This pump does work on the ziplock brand space saver bags. The seal does not fit over or into the seal on the bag, but if you place the two seals against each other and press down while you pump out the air, it works and works well. While it would be helpful if the pump had a secure lock onto the bag, I'm not sure that it would work as well given the cap feature of the bags themselves. With the vacuum, it is a powerful constant suction so a small gap in the seal doesn't matter... with this however I think that it may. Regardless, I was able to compress my bag quickly and efficiently with just one person. I did follow the recommendation to manually "push" as much air out of the bags as possible before using the pump.

The pump is small and light weight, too, so using it for travel and/or camping (the purpose I bought it for) will be perfect! Couldn't be happier with this little product especially for the price.

We ordered this for our upcoming trip. I was skeptical on how well this would work, as there have been some pretty poor reviews. We have the ziplock brand space bags and while this doesn't fit inside the valve, it works wonderful. You have to hold it down on the valve, but it removes the air with ease and actually got more out than our vacuum cleaner. We will be packing this in our suitcase for sure. It's worth every penny we paid and we don't have to hunt down a vacuum at our hotels now!

I'm not sure what the purpose of this pump is for but it is NOT for the Ziplock brand vacuum bags. It worked very very minimally even when I tried all the various tips others had mentioned in other reviews.

Granted, I did buy the XXXL version of the bags so maybe I should have given it more than 6 or 7 pumps before giving up. But the thought of sitting there for 20 minutes pumping away at a single bag of clothes...bah!

I ended up just using my oblong shaped Shark hand vac on the round hole and it worked fine.
