The only reason I bought this was because my son wanted Kwaazi in the "Silver Shark." The launcher doesn't launch the gups very far... basically, it just taps the gup, the gup rolls down the ramp, and stops at the bottom of the ramp. The launch ramp is a typical flimsy plastic toy. Nothing spectacular. The silver shark gup is the favorite speeder in our house, though! It is the same construction, size, quality, etc. of the other gup speeders toys. Sure, it is a little higher price to pay to get a darn speeder... but it was a Christmas gift. It was $7 and free shipping with Prime.

If your child wants this toy only for the "limited edition" gup speeder toy that you can't get anywhere unless you buy the whole set (well played, Fisher-Price, well played!) then I recommend this. It is a neat looking gup speeder and my son loves it.

However, if your child is interested in this toy because of the launching ramp, please know that it doesn't launch the gups very far (if at all!). Sometimes the gups make it to the bottom of the ramp, sometimes they get pushed sideways, and sometimes they just get tapped and barely budge. This thing does NOT "launch" the gups across the room.

In summary:
Silver shark = awesome.
Launcher = not so much.

This toy is really cute and I think any young one that likes Octonauts would like to have it. While the launcher doesn't necessarily launch the little gups very far, it's still pretty fun for the little ones. The little launcher itself is made out of very lightweight plastic, but the gup is heavy and well built. I feel like the launcher could be a little more heavy duty, specially for the price, but my little ones doesn't seem to care as long as he can push the button and make the gups go. I'd say that this toy is better for a younger child that doesn't have too much of an interest in the gup going fast and far. This set comes with one gup and you can buy all the other like 12 separately, but it won't be cheap.

I received this product for free or a reduced rate in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

thank goodness, my son is 3 and is nearly obsessed with octonuats but every thing is so expensive when its few a growing fan base like this show...even balloons were more expensive and I missed the walmart deal to get him a 2-3$ squirter he was so ecstatic to get this he sat there and talked about the gups on the picture/sticker on the toy for what seemed like hours...I was very happy to find a decent octo-toy at the price i got it for.

When you look at this for what it does it's actually quite lame. The ramp isn't long enough or steep enough for anything to be real exciting, and the button is a novelty at best. However, if your little one is collecting the GUP Speeders, it's going to be hard to resist not obtaining the exclusive vehicle contained therein.

This toy is as it appears. All I know for sure is my son is obsessed with Octonauts and will play with his octonauts' octopod and other gups for hours and hours on end. I bought him several racers at Kroger on clearance and then stumbled upon this launcher. It "launches" about two or three inches if you hit with closed fist. I have ever seen him play w this after first introduction and launching would be right up his alley. Save your money and buy another gup!

I purchased the Fisher-Price Octonauts Gup Speeders Launcher for my godson whom loves Octonauts. He is going to love playing with this and it is a perfect size to be able to take with him. It is a nice small toy that will not take up a lot of room. Although he will love it and play with it often it doesn’t launch very far and is not the best of quality. It will do just fine for him since he is young and not a rough child but I don’t believe this would hold up with a slightly older child or a child that is rougher during play. Overall this product will be a great gift for him and look forward to playing along with him after I give it to him.
