As others have stated, the SJW powder taste is bad, but not unbearable (taste like what I would imagine bitter root, bark, mushroom compost and a little dirt all mixed together to taste like). I have tried mixing it with water, hot tea and protein shakes. For me, that only makes the whole drink taste bad and I have had trouble with the powder sticking to the sides of the glass which leaves me trying to wipe it off with my finger or a spatula.

I prefer to have my drink “Chaser” at hand, dump the powder is my mouth and follow quickly with drink. I have done this with water, cold tea, protein shakes and coffee. After doing this a few times I have found it tolerable, especially considering the great benefits of SJW. Sometimes I follow the drink with a mint, which helps the taste dissipate faster.

You could certainly put the powder in capsules as others have pointed out. For me, too much trouble and unnecessary expense, after all that’s why I bought in bulk. If you compare the kilogram bulk price to buying pre packaged bottles with capsules, the bulk supplement price is quite compelling.

I also agree that including a “right size” scoop would be nice. The instructions say to take 3/8 teaspoon rounded. What I do is take a ½ teaspoon not quite full (after measuring out 3 - 1/8 teaspoons for a reference).

I took SJW for about a year and half and then quit because I thought it was no longer necessary. What I found is that not much time passed before I battled more with mood swings and depression and began taking SJW again (along with MACA Powder). I take this bulk SJW supplement 3 times per day (3/8 tsp each dose) and find the lift in mood, improved outlook on life, and greatly reduced feelings of depression to easily make the taste a non-issue.Read more ›

I will start off by saying I most certainly did not buy this product for the flavor. As many reviews have stated it is not pleasant however, it is effective! You can purchase capsules to make your own pills and not have to taste it. However, I choose to mix it with some water and just CHUG it then take a drink of some OJ to wash it down. I wouldn't recommend mixing it into your protein shakes because then you have to drink a whole shake that tastes like stale, fart-flavored hay. The benefits outweigh the taste though! I noticed a pretty big difference about four days into taking the St. Johns Wort. After about two weeks I felt very balanced. I get bouts of depression, mood swings and anxiety.. and not to say I will never feel down again but this REALLY makes me feel "normal". I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a natural way to level out their moods.

First and foremost, I would like to thank bulksupplements.com from the bottom of my heart! This product has honestly changed my entire outlook on life... More on that in a minute.

I was offered free product to write an unbiased review within two weeks, and I wanted to give myself the full two weeks to really let it sink in all that it has truly helped me with. Here goes!

Finding myself in a very low rut, I was having difficulties just getting up out of bed without feeling like I just should give up today and go back to sleep. Finally, I had conceded to the fact that, even after multiple failed attempts at exercising and eating well, I wasn't feeling any better and I needed to start taking something. I still attach a deep stigma to prescription drugs (only for me, if they work or you, please continue to do what helps you most!), so I wanted to start with herbal supplements. I did a little research and found on multiple sites that the product offered by bulksupplements.com was of superior quality.
I placed my order and received the 100g St John's Wort within only a few days.
At first, the taste was too bitter to take alone and I usually needed to chase it with orange juice. (Now I don't mind... Even like it!)
I feel the product took a good 4 days to take hold in my system... And how do I know it was working, you ask? The best example I can give is a scene from the movie, Limitless. When Bradley Cooper's character first initially takes the pill, his blue-gray world switches to a bright yellow surrounding; the colors of the cars and buildings are brighter and more vibrant and you can see in his eyes that his fog had lifted. Great price on a LARGE amount of bulk product. Package doesn't say it's "standardized", so no guarantee on potency of active compounds. (St johns wort must be harvested at very specific time for maximum benefit) Hard to tell how strong it is, or how well it works (just received it), but it seems quite strong. Also, the package says it was harvested over 2 years ago, putting its expiration date BEFORE I'm able to finish product. Comes in an air-tight and light-blocking Ziploc type bag, but no measuring scoop. Easy to figure proper dosage though, as it has conversion of 1/4tsp=375mg, etc. I will take 3 of those daily, making this last over 2 years. For continued potency, I recommend squeezing out excess air when re-sealing, and keeping it in cold place. I deal with anxiety and depression, and having used St Johns Wort pills for years, I can tell you it is far better than anything "prescribed". In Germany and other countries, this is the first "medicine" doctors turn to (because it works!). Not in Big Pharma America (partially for the same reason, and $$!) Updated after months of use... I am now more impressed with the product than initially- upped to 5 stars! Very effective in raising dopamine and serotonin levels at my dose. Compared to more expensive pill-form, my moods are much better, my energy drastically improved, attention and focus is better, my debilitating Fibromyalgia is better, sleep is improved. And at the fairly high dose (previously mentioned) the bag seems endless. My only noticeable side-effect seems to be a slightly looser stool (not necessarily bad). Purchase it, and give it a few days for it to take full effect. But if you miss a dose, you may notice it. I am NOT compensated for writing this review. Just a knowledgeable and happy customer. Did I just say happy?
