I purchased this kit for photographing plastic model kits. Although the models I photograph are small (10-18cms) I found that this photo tent was a little tool small for it's intended purpose. I will also mention that the dimensions listed are for the exterior of the box and not the usable space in the interior. The usable interior space was under 10x10 inches.

I'm pretty happy with this purchase. Assembly was simple, and re-packing it was not much more difficult. I suspect that those who had trouble getting this back in the case didn't watch as they were unpacking it the first time. This was a good size for the 3D prints I wanted to photograph, and the translucent sides provided very even lighting. I think I could have used it without additional lights, but I also picked up a couple very cheap studio lights. While the result isn't professional, it's plenty close enough. As the other reviews have stated, the drop cloths do need to be ironed to get a smooth background. They do attach securely, however, in a number of configurations. The whole setup feels pretty sturdy, so I'll probably be using this for quite a while.

Size: 36" Shooting Tent Verified Purchase
I bought this tent to do small product photography. But like an idiot, I thought...bigger is better, right? So I got the largest size. 36 x 36 inches. That's...large enough to shoot a small child, large dog, your mother in law...seriously. I did NOT need one this big. Evaluate your true needs before you buy one of these things. Why? Because the larger it is, the more impossible it is to get the thing back in the very tiny package it came out of!

I wish I'd made a video of my husband and I trying to fold this thing back up. It was priceless comedy, let me tell you. And the video here? Thanks for the effort, whoever you were, but not quite good enough. You need to SHOW us as you FOLD it, not just have the thing sitting there static and tell us about it. We tried to follow your instructions...total fail. Didn't work. We put tape. We cussed. We stretched, bent, folded, kicked, nearly mutilated the thing. Nothing worked. This thing is like those car shades, but stronger and more violent. When it snaps out...you need protective gear. Especially if you buy the large size.

I finally found a how-to on the internet that led us to wrestling the thing back in the case, but it took two of us and it was man handling a slimy worm. If you have short arms, you'll need help folding the large size tent. Seriously. My husband is 6'3" and barely managed it.

All that said...if you DO need to shoot your mother in law, this thing works just fine. I got my shots done. The background was wrinkled when it got here of course but between a light steam ironing (FELT side, not plastic side) and proper lighting, it was a non-factor. The tent itself worked great to diffuse the light and block the background. In other words, it did all that I needed it to do. Except go back quietly in the container.

And, as others have mentioned, it arrives with no instructions whatsoever.

There's a lot of value here. The tent pops open in a jiffy. The first time you try I suggest slowing it down a bit and keeping a firm grip until you are familiar with it. It does *pop* open, after all. You also get a couple short light stands (just the right size for working with this tent), a pair of reflectors, and two high output, daylight balanced bulbs.

There are four color inserts, white, black, red, and blue. If you have a fabric steamer they can be kept wrinkle free with ease. If you don't have one, you really should since the come in very handy.

Getting the tent back in its bag can be tricky and I've provided the attached video to show the tricks I use to get it right every time.

Size: 12" Shooting Tent
Great lighting box. I take a lot of photos of food and I wanted to bring the photos to the next level by getting a lighting box. I felt like this lighting box really help me with that. I purchased the 12 x 12 size and it's small enough to not get in the way. Any bigger may be inconvenient. It comes with four backgrounds fabrics that can be velcroed onto the lighting box. It comes with the colors, red, black, white, and blue. You'll need to iron them out a little for a smooth background. Stand and lighting are not included. I've read a lot of reviews on the other lighting boxes that came with lightning, but most people said they ended up throwing them out and what not and using lights they at home. So I decided to just use desk lamps I had at home already and save some money. I placed lighting on both sides of the box and one on top. This box is only big enough to take photos of small items like a small plate of cookies. I'm still practicing my photography but so far I really love this lighting box. I dont know how to take down the box but don't really feel like breaking it down and opening it up, setting up the lights everytime I want to use it. So it sits on one of my nighstands with the lights in place ready for whenever I want to take pictures.

I'm not a product photographer, I shoot weddings and portraits but I had some excess gear I wanted to sell off so I bought this to get some quick and clean product shots. I saw the low price and decent reviews on this and decided it couldn't hurt to give it a try and I must say, I'm really impressed with it. I bought the 32" version which is quite large but it folds down into a really convenient bag that is identical to those used for reflectors.

The material is strong enough and the supports seem solid. It took me maybe 5 minutes or so to figure out how to properly fold and unfold it but once I got that down it's was pretty easy. It's also very similar to the 5-in-1 reflectors in the way it opens and closes. Once you figure it out it takes maybe 30 seconds at most to put up and tear down.

The back drops were a nice touch although to be honest, white is the only one I'll ever need. Product shots look pretty cheesy on black, red or blue backdrops... Straight out of 2001.

I read some reviews here where people complained about the backdrop material being wrinkled but I think maybe those were reviewers who aren't necessarily photographers, just people looking to take pictures of products they make/sell... So a tip to anyone looking to do that, you just need to get a good light source aimed into the box and the wrinkles (at least with the white backdrop) won't show in your photo. Ideally you want to set up a couple light sources (be they flashes, LED lights, or even a couple lamps) around the outside of the box to give you that a strong but soft light. Your subject will look great and the wrinkles won't be an issue.
