I love this feeder! And as a PETCO fish expert I have been highly recommending it to my many many aquatic customers. I have been using it (personally) for 5 months already and have not had to change the batteries at all. It gets the job done and is very durable. I do not have to worry about feeding my freshwater fish every day, because this feeder does it for me. Also another advantage to using an automatic feeder it that fish love to be on daily schedules, and when they are fed at the exact time, every single day, they love it even more. I have noticed that when it is nearing the time for them to be fed, my fish start swimming up at the top of the tank anticipating for their food to drop. Another great advantage to using this type of feeder is that you can choose the portion size of food you would like to be dropped into the tank for every feeding. Also you can choose whether you would like your fish to be fed once a day or up to 4 times a day. And if you have baby fish in your tank this will help you out a great deal. When I had baby platies in my breeders net, it was very hard for me to make sure they were fed 4 times a day. Sometimes I wasn't even home for a couple of the feedings, but with this automatic feeder my worries went away.
I highly recommend this product for all levels of aquarist. I think you should definitely buy this product!!

Bought 2 for a week long vacation, one for a freshwater and one for a saltwater tank. I was able to use only one because of the type of food.

Flakes: Kept fish alive for a week (a few tetras on a 15g tank). It would stop with the opening pouting downward so the condensation would get into the food and make a clumpy mess. I couldn't reopen it to reposition the barrel so I had to leave it as it was.

Pellets: Did not work for me. I only wanted to dispense food for two clown fish. Since it would dump enough food for a week at once, I wasn't able to use it.

Gladly I had someone come over and feed the fish.

I guess if you have a bigger tank with bigger fish, it could work. Or if you don't mind coming home to a tank with high nitrate values.

I ordered this product and loved it you can set it for up to 4 feeds per day and it takes the guessing game of who fed the fish or not out of the equation. I have 2 tanks now so I decided to buy again, well that's when everything went downhill. You think when you click buy again you will be getting the same product but no I received the smaller version the second time and it cost more money. When I contacted amazon the lady tried to say maybe it was a redesign but clearly they have 2 different model numbers. Closer look shows they have pictures of two different model numbers on this listing so whose to say which one you are going to get when ordering this product. I need another large fish feeder but unless I want to play the guessing game I will not be getting the same one!

My first one lasted about 2 years. Then it became erratic as to when it would work. I think moisture got to it since my bubbler puts bubbles on top of the water then they burst and splash the device. I bought it for vacation feeding but ended up using it all the time.I was happy enough with the first one that i bought another

It's easy to program, the food compartment is nicely sealed where it does not retain moisture and ruin the food. You can easily adjust the amount of food delivered and can test it with the manual rotation button. You can set multiple feeding times which is good if your concerned about not enough food being dispensed and you'll be away for a week. It's a bit bulky but other than that I love this automatic feeder.

Sometimes simplicity is in the product design. This doesn't promise anything but on-time, adjustable fish food for your pets, and it delivers. Durable plastic, efficient battery operation, and a quiet purr as it spins, releasing the food. Just remember, you need to set at least the down arrow (two for twice a day). READ THE MANUAL.
