My 8 year old akita who has had cushings for over a year now was on Vetoryl, in fact she had to have a custom pill made because she was at a level of dosage higher then they even make it in. The Vetoryl didn't even maker her great, just ok... I am disabled and the $170 a month prescription was very hard for me to afford. I've been doing much reading and research into homeopathic remedies for her. For the last month, she's been off the Vetoryl and now i give her CBD hemp oil(Bluebird Botanicals in colorado), 12 drops with each meal. That has remedied almost ALL of her symptoms from the cushings. The appetite, the weakness, lethargy, mood. The only thing that really remained was her water intake and her "accidents" in the night. These lignans after much research have seemed to fill up the leftover void on the water.After about a week of one pill per meal (separated and powder sprinkled over her meal) and a slight regimen of a few cups of water every 3 hours, she has seemed to calm down with the water. She no longer opens doors and pushed the toilet seat up to dink from the toilet. she doesn't act like a junkie looking for a fix of water all the time. I'm really really impressed with how this has been working for her. At night i give her a 3mg pill of Melatonin in a small amount of peanut butter and she rests well through the evening. So far these remedies have really made her "normal" even much much better than the Vetoryl. I am sooooo soooo happy and excited to have my faithful friend, family member and loved one back in good health. If you have any questions about my methods feel free to ask me. It has truly been a 180 deg change in her and she keeps getting better and better day by day. All for much less, better results and all natural... Cannot complain one bit..

I have two Basset Hounds that have Cushing's disease and while doing some research I came across the research done at the University of Tennessee that talked about using lignans and melatonin to treat the disease. I started the two girls on the protocol and within 2 weeks we could see a change in one dog's coat and within a month her fur was close to being back to normal. The other dog did not have the outward signs of Cushing's but had elevated liver values and within 4 weeks her liver values were back to normal. I highly recommend trying this protocol before using some of the current drugs that have serious side effects and are quite expensive.
