I iron a lot and have owned a number of irons over the years. When it was time to replace my current hard water clogged iron The Shark GI468 looked like a great choice. Very long electrical cord, high capacity reservoir, and easy to use controls.

If you have a hard flat surface to set the iron on then you won't have any problems and this would be a great iron to own. I do all my ironing on a standard pad covered fold up ironing board and that's when this iron gets dangerous.

This iron is top heavy and rests on 3 small elevated legs/pads that are part of the iron base. When set on a padded ironing surface it is extremely susceptible to falling over. The first time I used it I got a nasty 1/2 by 1/2 inch burn on my ring finger when it fell over as I was adjusting the garment I was ironing. I wrote it off as being careless. The second time I used it I was being more careful but was beginning to realize just how wobbly the iron was on my ironing board. It didn't take long before it tumbled again, this time leaving about a 6 inch by 1 inch red stripe down the back of my hand where it burned me. If you were to ask me when I was last burned before I got this iron I couldn't tell you.

Bottom line, be very careful around this iron. It's pretty stable on a solid resting surface and the feature set makes it a good value for the money. But if you have to rest your iron on a padded surface then stay away from this one or you'll get bitten by this Shark.

I do a significant amount of ironing (6-7 hours per week total) and this iron has basically worn out in 6 months time. It developed a crack in the side of the water tank that doesn't leak yet (but does worry me as to when it will start leaking from that spot). It has what seems to be a rather significant yet intermittent leak between the base plate and the water tank . The 'silver' on the underside of the handle has completely worn off also. When I iron, I have to fill the water tank approximately every 30 minutes to make up for the leakage; when I purchased the iron a full water talk would last me 2-3 times that long.

For someone who irons infrequently this may be a good iron, but for someone like me who uses it quite a bit I wish I had spent a bit more for a higher-quality iron.

This is hands down the best Iron, I have ever had. For the pirce, it should be more. Iron , simply is about the steam, and this thing is like a professional Iron, the amount of steam that comes out will quickly reduce your ironing time by 75%. I iron my button down work short in less than 2 minutes. No more cleaners for me.

Every positive thing stated in other reviews is true: best steam, lightwt for arthritis, great gliding soleplate, convenient long cord...simply one of the best irons I've ever owned (and that's saying a lot over a few decades)BUT, at least for me, approximately six months after buying, it leaks A LOT. I baby my irons because I use them so much and was disappointed that I will have buy another one so soon simply because it leaks so much that i can't use this one to iron clothes right before i want to wear them.

I love this iron! It has ton's of steam, with the plus side of strong, verticle (and horizontal) blasts of steam for just steaming items, over a foot away! Nice "large" filling cup for adding water, and it can use "tap" water, (an amazing perk for a long-time "distilled" water user like me for years!)

I really needed a "lightweight" iron with arthritis in my right hand and this one is perfect. I can iron for long stretches without pain or discomfort. I bought a large wonderful (Rowenta) iron, which was beautiful, but I couldn't use it due to the weight. It's amazing what a great job this "lightweight" can do up against it's "heavier" bigger, rivals!

It gets out wrinkles better than any other iron I have owned in over 40 years of ironing too. The digital readout of levels and readiness are a colorful light show treat too! The automatic shut off feature is a must too (with annoying "Senior" moment forgetfulness episodes!)

I've had this iron for about a month. For under $50, it has nice balance (even though it's a bit wobbly standing on end on an ironing board), TONS of steam, comes with a handy refilling cup, easy to refill, and has a calcium filter which is what sealed the deal for me.

Easy eliminates wrinkles quickly (I can iron wrinkly textured shirt in about 5 min) and with starch, a little quicker. Simple adjustment and quick auto-shut off. Perfect iron if you're on a budget but demand pro results.

I just received this iron and I am extremely disappointed with it.

I wasn't looking for a professional iron - just a regular, serviceable iron. This product is a very poor excuse for an iron. I would have been better off buying a real cheapo at the supermarket!

In the description one of the supposedly good features is: "the iron automatically shuts itself off if left unused in any position (sideways, flat, or upright) for more than seven minutes."

I wondered about why they would make a point of adding "sideways" as a reason for auto shut-off after 7 minutes of non-use. Actually the time before shut off is much less than 7 minutes - closer to 2 - a time so short that I constantly had to "reboot" the iron. This was not a very happy introduction to my new iron.

On to the "sideways" issue: it turns out that the iron ends up sideways a lot due to a too narrow base which makes it so wobbly when standing on end on the ironing board that it keeps falling over again and again. Water seeps out of the fill area when it is sideways - on the ironing board, on clothes, or on me - whatever it is near. This iron should really have a stand to sit on to keep it from being a tweedledum or tweedledee. After it turns itself off I have to jiggle the iron to start it up again and then wait until it heats up enough for the light to stop blinking so I can iron again.

I am a frequent Amazon Prime customer as I live in a rural area but this purchase was a supremely bad choice.Read more ›
