    I bought these boots for a last minute hiking trip up Mount Bieratadt (a fourteener) in Colorado. My Helly Hansen boots were in storage.

    Wore them once to the gym and one day to work before the trip. I wore smart wool socks and did not get any blisters on the hike! Pretty impressive for brand new hiking boots. Good grips on the soles too. No problem navigating rocks.

    THE BEGINNING:
    I was in search for good/affordable hiking shoes for my trip to Utah/Colorado. I asked many questions in amazon. Most of which were answered. Then I made my decision. I chose this one!

    THE EXPERIENCE:

    I spent one week in parts of Utah and Colorado; hiking, camping, fishing and whitewater rafting so obviously these shoes went with me as well. By the end of each night I would take these shoes off and my feet would feel great. Like I could hike a little longer. These shoes were GREAT! even hiking in them felt amazing. I DO suggest to buy them a size larger as they do run small. They are waterproof and sturdy. I really do not understand why others say it isn't. I spent two days white water rafting and walking through Zion and my feet were super dry and no water leaked in. They are Comfortable and fit (They wont slip) I would Highly recommend them if you are on a budget. They worked great on me so if the time comes to replace them I will buy myself a second pair.

    One star since the shoe is very comfortable. CONS: Fits too small. I had to exchange for a size larger. Be forewarned, the description states it's waterproof, but alas it is NOT! Don't buy if you're looking for something that is waterproof.

    Strenghts .. Ultra lite , waterproof , decent outsole (did not slip), easy to clean out dirt fabric and good ankle protection! Weakness .. Not sure about the breathable feature, my feet got hot like it was on fire (even using high quality socks), insoles are too simple and runs small.

    Had to return a size 11 and I wear a 10 usually. The boot is way way too small in the toe box and if you have big feet like mine, you'll probably find the same problem exists. This was the second pair of Columbia brand hiking boots that I returned to Amazon, and I finally decided that it was the brand. The 10 felt like my foot was jammed into a shoe two sizes smaller. I finally gave up Columbia and bought a nice pair of size 11 Ariat hikers, and they FIT perfectly.

    Glad I read the reviews and ordered a size up. I also needed to buy better insoles with more cushioning and arch support. The Columbia insoles are low budget with neither cushioning nor support--I was surprised! For the shape of my foot, I would like more space for my toes. These boots are good and lightweight, not waterproof as advertised, and on the "pricey" side. Going on an easy trail hike this next weekend, and the proof will be in the trekking...I am betting on the positive reviews!!!

    I really wanted to like these but things just didn't work out. I normally wear a 6.5 but went by what other reviewers suggested and ordered a half size up. The size 7 shoes were way to big, even with thick socks on. The toe box area would bend inward and squish my big toe. I returned the size 7 shoes and ordered by regular size, 6.5 and these were just too small even with really thin socks, let alone for thick socks which I prefer to wear when hiking. I have other shoes and boots by Columbia so I'm not sure what went wrong, maybe it's this specific style/model that just didn't suit me. They were really comfy too and I loved the way they looked. Oh well. Had to return AGAIN. I think I'll go with a whole new shoe all together.

    These really are not good all-day hiking shoes. It makes your toes feel sore and smashed, especially walking down hills and its hard to get the shoe on while wearing thick socks. The treds on these shoes are so small that walking on rocky surfaces is treacherous. On the plus side, they are lightweight, have good water proofing and are somewhat breathable. But do not take these shoes off trail.
