First of all, this is NOT a nail brush as the title says it is. It's a brush for watercolor brush. The Da Vinci line has always done fantastic brushes. I have a few of their red handled cosmo spin brushes and I love them immensely. This one is right up there. It holds a LOT of paint and makes a fantastic point for fine lines or broad sweeps in a glazing technique. The handle is nicely shaped too. That's one of the main features that makes it stand out for me. The handle is very comfortable to work with. I do realistic/fantasy paintings and having detail and control is a must.

This is an affordable sable brush. Please note that, although it's not "top shelf", working with ANY sable is considerably better than any synthetic! For the price you are paying you are getting a great brush that you can use for many years.

Keep in mind, this is a natural hair brush, not a synthetic. It's made from some type of weasel or ermine, so you do have to take proper care of your brushes. Wash them, condition them and reshape them after you use them!

This sable paint brush, size 8 arrived in a very securely packaged box. I was amazed at how well packaged the brush was to that it did not get damaged in transit. As that size is commonly used in watercolor painting, I put it to the test right away and am very pleased with its quality. After all the reading and the research while moving up from beginner to barely better than beginner in watercolor splashing - this thing is simply worth it. The amount of water it holds, in combination with the smooth action and precision tip make it a no-brainer. I've tried several brushes now (blends, synthetics and naturals included) but they say Russian sable is the best for a reason - it is. I'll move up in series as my skill increases, following this series and others with the natural sable as I go.

In a nutshell: Good brush, better quality than Games Workshop's similar offering, and quite handsome. I'd have to use it first to see if I would purchase it again, but from what I've seen from it's smaller siblings it's worth a shot!

Very nice brush, so much better than all our old brushes that we fight over who gets to use it when two of us are painting at once (now we're just buying more brushes). However, it came rolling by itself in the box, no brush protector or holder or anything. Fortunately it was undamaged.
