Based upon the specifications of wrestling champion Jordan Burroughs, this signature wrestling sneaker has a synthetic leather and single-layer mesh upper topped with seamless TPU overlays. The integrated lace garage on the reduced-bulk tongue meets regulations for tournament competition. In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. ASICS: History and Heritage

After the second world war, ASICS founder Kihachiro Onitsuka observed children wandering the streets barefoot, and decided to help the youth of his country. Look Great Fit Great

Look better than hoped. They fit great and are flexable. Can't wait for my son to start wrestling. My son wore the shoes for 2 weeks at practice and one of the shoes started to fall apart. The rubber separated from the rest of the shoe and tore apart. The shoes look great but are made like crap. I wouldn't want my name on these shoes. Amazon was great about refunding my money.

Take $80 and burn it!

If your going to buy these shoes you will be better off to take your money and set it on fire it will last longer than these shoes! They came apart with very little use. These are the worst pair of Asics I have ever owned. Please save your money and buy a Better pair.

Sole tore quickly

I am a wrestling coach. I purchased five of these in different sizes (one each for myself and my four sons). I had also encouraged many of our wrestlers to buy them because we have gold in our singlets.

I have about 20 wrestlers in my mat room wearing these, and unfortunately, for almost all of these shoes the outside rubber sole (right next to where your little toe lives) tore within a couple of weeks of practice. Almost everyday, I can find little pieces of the soles that have ripped off of one wrestler's or another's Gold JB Elite.

It was especially bad because I had encouraged the team to get them. :-(

Great for Squats and Deadlifts, but tight

I've been using these shoes the past 3months specifically for squats and deadlifting. They are lightweight and have a solid flat sole that works great for those exercises.
I got the black/gold color, it looks badass to say the least. I usually wear a size 8, which is what I ordered and the length fits fine. Although, even with normal sized feet the shoes do feel pretty tight around the ball of your feet at the knuckles. The sides of my feet would really hurt doing movements like calf raises. What i've been doing lately is keeping the laces loose throughout the bottom and just tightening it at the top (ankle) and tying them.
I strictly use these shoes for my leg days at the gym about twice a week for around 2hrs. They are still very much intact. I wouldn't recommend walking around with them for the day. My feet were aching and for some reason the mesh on the insides are really rough when first using them. They left scabs on the sides of my legs from all the chaffing throughout the day.
All that aside, if you're looking for cheap squat / deadlifting shoes that look and work great then these are definitely an option. Just take a week to break them in and leave the laces loose at the bottom.

Fell apart in 2 weeks

I bought these shoes for my son as a birthday gift and within 2 weeks of wearing them the bottom started to fall apart. He switched back to his old shoes for practice and will only wear them for tournaments. He said they are comfortable and look great but poorly made. Definitely not worth the money!

Poorly Made

I am a collegiate wrestler and we ordered these as our team shoes. Within a month of putting the shoes on most of the guys had issues with them falling apart and had to send them back. Only a handful of guys still compete in these shoes. Many of us just took our replacement pair and sold them on ebay.

Shoe falling apart!!

I bought the gold version of this shoe. After only a few weeks the rubber sole just started falling off in pieces on one of the shoes. They look amazing. Not built very well at all. I did not purchase through Amazon. Thought I'd leave a comment on the product itself.

Meh. Low quality.

They fit my son well and looked good at first. We purchased them in September and by November the gold had totally rubbed off in spots and the rubber came off the side of the shoes. We are in the process of returning them to Asics. I purchased a pair of Dan Gable Ultimate 3s instead.
