I bought this based on promises of this tape working miracles. Expectations 110% met. I use this tape around the house. To date I've used it:

-to secure a long ethernet cord across walls.
-to make a silver Ikea picture frame black (The results were amazing. this tape is really easy to tear and has a great finish.)
-for cord management around my computer
-to fix a hole in my jeans (The tape has been held up quite well for over a month. I taped my jeans on the inside and put a small piece on the outside to cover the frays. I was OK using tape in this area of the pants because it's only really visible if I decide to sit Indian-style. Also, my mom sewed this area, but her work didn't hold up for more than 2 weeks, so I turned to this tape with better results.)

As you can see, this tape can be used for a variety of functions. So far the only thing I've noticed that it doesn't adhere well to is cardboard.

if you're a photographer, do yourself a favor and get some gaff. even if you're not working with lights and cables all the time, its nice to have around to stick things to places on your gear without having to worry about sticky residue or things not adhering.

its good to have, and when you need it, you really need it. so always have at least one roll handy.

I'm giving this product 6 stars out of five because it's not only better than all the other tape out there, it's the best gaffer tape ever. Period.

Heavy-duty, Industrial grade... For everyone out there who uses this stuff, you'll be blown away by how strong this product is. I would trust it in any situation... lower me off the roof of a skyscraper with it!

As someone who's worked in the TV/Film industry for years, I've gone through thousands of rolls of gaffer tape so I know what I'm talking about.

Strong tape that holds my cables in place during gigs. It costs a bit more that maybe than other tapes listed here on Amazon but it does not leave any sticky mess behind after using. It has a cloth like texture to the surface also, not a plastic feel as you get with other tapes. Works very well, I'm happy with it so far.

I just received this roll so I haven't tested it yet but I wanted to give some initial observations

Specs from WebGage Customer Care:

"Total thickness: 11.5 mils
Adhesion to Steel: 50 oz/in
Tensile Strength: 42 lb/in
Matte-Finish Vinyl Coated Cloth
Adhesive Type: rubber"

Thickness: I have used the JVCC gaffer tape (GAFF30YD/BLK230) which is 12 mil, and this is rated slightly thinner at 11.5mils. Although only a 0.5 mil difference, I think it is noticeable (perhaps different measuring standards?). The 12 mil JVCC feels closer to the thickness of electrical tape, there is a thicker spread of glue (like duct tape), it's whiter, and it doesn't stretch. This Gafferpower stretches more and has a lighter spread of glue that is more gray. Sometimes thicker is better for protection, sometimes thinner is better so it wraps and grabs better.

Texture: JVCC has a very unique texture that is soft and smooth, like a fine matte velvet, which looks nice and doesn't stretch. The Gafferpower is more like other gaffer tapes - mesh like duct tape and stretches.

Tearing by hand: Similar, but I think due to it's thickness, the JVCC tears better (sometimes jagged, threads sticking out). Need to use scissors for a nice cut.

Tackiness: Similar, but JVCC has more glue.

Strength: Haven't tested yet. JVCC is strong.

Longevity: Haven't tested yet. The JVCC can leave residue on some materials over long term (e.g. plastic book covers) and the backing would slide away from the glue if there's movement; on other materials, it can be clean after months.

Overall the Gafferpower still seems like good tape.

Excellent tape ! Once you have it, you'll find many more uses for it beyond your original intended purpose. The texture of the tape is also nice. More fabric like, than the polyethylene of duct tape . I will always keep a roll of this in my toolbox.

Used this gaffers tape at a wedding event. Photos, Videos, the whole 9. Long story short this stuff leaves adhesive residue on everything. Gaffer's tape shouldn't do that. It's the whole point of using Gaffers Tape. Just take a look at one of the legs of my $600 tripod. Tons of sticky white gunk.
