Take The Mystery Out Of Keeping Your Hearing Aids Functioning Correctly

If you use hearing aids, it's important to know what parts you can replace yourself instead of returning to the audiologist for a fee plus the inflated cost of the parts. One of the critical components of the hearing aid that can cause each one to eventually fail is the wax filter. Once they get stopped up with wax, the aid quits working.

If you have a good audiologist who is interested in referrals rather than getting the most money he/she can out of each patient, he/she will show you how to replace the wax filters and will also supply you with a few samples. The process is quite simple, especially with these Oticon replacement filters.

First you remove the soft earpiece. Then pull one of the dark 'wheels' out of the Oticon replacement pack. You will see a naked post on one end and another post with a new filter on the other. Slide the naked post into the wax filter and simply lift it out of the hearing aid. Then push the new filter back into the space you removed the old one from. Voila!

These can get jammed up quickly if you generate a lot of ear wax. Something you might try is to put your hearing aids in the storage unit overnight. In the morning, before using them again, simply brush the ends of the soft earpieces with a tooth brush. Letting them sit overnight will allow the ear wax to harden and become brittle, making it far easier to remove the next day.

USEFUL TIP: EVENTUALLY, IF YOU HAVE A PROPER COMFORTABLE FIT, YOU WILL LEAVE YOUR HEARING AIDS IN WHEN YOU JUMP IN THE SHOWER OR POOL. DON'T PANIC!Read more ›

Excellent Service

This was the best deal I could find on this item, along with the domes. The only thing that bothers me is that the price that initially came up on the first product info page was $5 more when I went to check out. "Free Shipping" was indicated on that first page, but this is not true because you are paying that $5 shipping any way you look at it. Why offer free shipping when no one really gets it for free? I really dislike this dishonesty.

These tiny filters work well but must be changed frequently. This multi-pack sales unit is by far the easiest and cheapest way to go. It makes sense to order 30 at a time. It is also wise to use only the Oticon branded filters. They work perfectly and the supplier that Amazon has contracted to supply this item is excellent..
