I love this seasoning on my popcorn. I have been looking for better toppings and better seasonings to have a more "gourmet" experience with popcorn. This is #1 for white cheddar. I use a premium popcorn kernel popped in an aluminum pot with a tablespoon of olive oil. After popping i toss the popcorn with spray butter and then shake on the seasoning. Yummy!

I used to buy Molly McButter cheese flavor seasoning, but it is no longer sold in stores. This is sooooo much better anyways. I pop popcorn in the air-popper, spray it with I Can't Believe its Not Butter, then shake this on - it is DELICIOUS! Better than Smartfood...

I love popcorn. It's a fantastic and very flexible snack. I'm less a fan of microwave popcorn because I really can't tell what's in it, and it seems not only unhealthy but relatively expensive. Our household has been experimenting with different flavors for the past few years. Caramel corn is the easiest but sugary, and getting a cheese to stick to it is a bit of work. You really do need a powder, and something finer than the chunky shakeable parmesan so many of us put on our spaghetti. We have food allergies in the house as well, so we have to be careful with the ingredients.

Enter "Kernel Season's White Cheddar". I had high hopes to begin with - it meets our food allergies (gluten-free, no MSG), and it came in a large container (8.5 oz). The directions were a bit vague (sprinkle liberally), and I've still not found a "sweet spot" of how much to add. Sprinkling it by itself on hot popcorn isn't enough to get it to stick to the kernals, and you'll regret inhaling with a piece in your mouth (unless you like cheese powder in the back of your throat).

This product does work very well if mixed with some melted butter, though, especially clarified butter (skim the fat off the top). We've been trying to keep the mix close to 1/4 cup popcorn (before air-popping in the microwave), 1 TBsp butter, 3 TBsp Kernal Season's seasoning. Works gorgeously, and the cheddar flavor goes so well with butter I suspect this would make a very tasty mac'n'cheese. I haven't tried it in a sauce yet but I should.

Something that may seem small but is important to me is the container itself. It doesn't let the seasoning get messy. The lid is deep and seals tightly, and there's no fine grains of the powder spilling out into it when I take the lid off.Read more ›

UPDATED: Our family has used Kernel Season's seasonings on our popcorn for 7 or 8 years, and we were mainly a Nacho Cheddar family, but one day, while at the concessions counter at the theater, my stepdaughter asked if I was going to get any seasoning for the popcorn, and I took out my 2.85 oz. bottle of Nacho Cheddar. Two guys behind the counter said, "Wow, you've come prepared!" Then, one suggested I try White Cheddar seasoning, and the other agreed, so we tried it.

As expected, Kernel Season's White Cheddar was much milder in flavor, but it was noticeable enhancement to our popcorn, and we all like it. I especially like how it did not seem to compete with the flavor of the Coke I was drinking when I went from eating popcorn to drinking Coke. I still like "Nacho Cheddar" the best, but "White Cheddar" comes in a very close second.

I would warn you, though, this is an 8.5 ounce bottle, and it is about three times larger than the one you find in your grocery store, so if you don't use it often, or live in a place with high humidity, be prepared for it to harden before you get anywhere near finishing the bottle. Once it hardens, even if you break it up again with an ice pick, it won't have the same mellow flavor.

Update: One aspect about using Kernel Season's products is that after a couple of weeks they tend to "clump-up." No matter if you use something (ice pick or knife) to break the seasoning up, again, it tends to have lost some of its zest. If, after opening the seasoning you put it in the refrigerator, you will find it keeps fresh longer, which is, I guess, what they may have meant when they said "store in a cool, dry place."

This is a household favorite. Funny thing, it doesn't taste much like cheddar, but, more interestingly, a bit like Parmesan. It can be sprinkled on brocholli (lightly cooked) and other items which need a bit of brightening. Mixed with toasted crumbs, it can top off anything from macaroni and cheese to lasagna.

"Butter" seasoning is no longer in request here for popcorn. This is what is wanted.

I bought this along with a microwave popcorn bowl to pop my own kernels. So much unnecessary stuff goes into microwave popcorn that it takes all the "healthy" out of this snack. I decided to take a chance with this topping since it added no calories and still would keep my popcorn "healthy".
I Love This Stuff! It tastes really good. I found a tip online to use pan spray instead of butter to help make this (or salt) stick to popcorn and not just end up on the bottom of the bowl. It worked great. It tastes great. I'm happy I found this and took a chance. I will be ordering more.
