We haven't used this firefly yet but I'm writing the review anyway because I already had one from this toy-maker and it is lots of fun. Got it for 10yo boy as a stocking stuffer last year. It was a HUGE hit. My 3yo loved it too (but needed help shooting it --- I think it can be used independently by kids over age about 7-8).
It flys really high, spins and lights up neon. You can make a game out of it: who can shoot it the furthest? Who can catch it first?

Very inexpensive fun for your backyard or the drive-way (assuming a low trafiic area and no crabby neighbors) or the park at night (if the park at night is safe in your area, that is).

This unit does just what it's supposed to: It launches up into the air a fair distance, and comes down fairly slowly on it's 'helicopter' blades. The light is bright and colorful, and it's easy to catch, even in the dark. Just make sure you don't trip on or bump into anything while you're chasing it in the dark. I used it for about half an hour so far, and the batteries show no sign of dying yet. I'm sure kids would get a kick out of this, as long as it doesn't land in an inaccessible place like the roof, a pond, or a nuclear-power-plant cooling tower. A little bit of wind will change it's decent path significantly, so be aware of that.

Have bought plenty of cheap versions of this on Amazon and love them. This one comes with all the instructions, replacement batteries and wings, etc. It's pricier than the others. I'd buy one of these and then a 12 pack of the others.
