Product Description

The gel rocket 7 brings exceptional value and performance season after season. This season offers a lighter weight upper and increased gum rubber on the outsole for improved traction. Updated styling and design will continue to make this series the shoe of choice for recreational court sport players everywhere.

In 1949, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka began his athletic footwear company (Onitsuka Co., Ltd.) by manufacturing basketball shoes out of his living room in Kobe, Japan. He chose the name ASICS for his company in 1977, based on a famous Latin phrase "Anima Sana In Corpore Sano," which, when translated, expresses the ancient ideal of "A Sound Mind in a Sound Body." Taking the acronym of this phrase, ASICS was founded on the belief that the best way to create a healthy and happy lifestyle is to promote total health and fitness. Today, ASICS offers a full line of performance-driven athletic shoes and technical active sports apparel and accessories dedicated to bringing harmony to the body and soul.

I am a tournament player with 2E width needs. In almost all cases a D width shoe is a disappointingly narrow fit, and accordingly so do the choices for decent racquetball shoes. For years I have worn NB basketball shoes on the racquetball court, which get the job done yet are heavier than optimal, feel slow for racquetball IMO. NB doesn't make a racquetball or volleyball shoe. Their tennis shoes can be had in 2E, but aren't made for wood floors.

I tried the HEAD Sonic shoes because they come in a mid cut but those gave me my first case of plantar fasciitis in my right foot, so I was forced to dump them, but the lighter weight was definitely a plus. So, what next?

Coincidentally I noticed that a lot of guys in the league I play in seemed to be suddenly wearing Asics shoes in the various models - Flashpoint, Sensei, Gel 7 etc. and the feedback was that all the models came somewhat large, and wider. I tried them all and for me the Gel 7 is the answer. The cushioning is outstanding, plantar fasciitis not a problem now, even after I play. My forefoot feels just comfortable enough in the 12D size i bought. I normally wear a 11.5 2E. in NB shoes. Overall the Gel7 is a solid, light weight shoe with excellent traction and for a wide foot, an OK fit.

Shoes fit perfectly. To my knowledge they are sized right. I'm a 10.5 with most brands, and these fit me great. wore them around the house here and there to break them in a week before my volleyball league started just to be sure, but they are probably good to go right out of the box. Amazing lateral support, and cushioning as I would expect from an Asics court shoe, but what really made me happy was the more padded tongue and heel area, it just made the shoe feel that much more comfy with no hard areas to rub and cause blistering. Very light weight as well. Could barely notice them on my feet if it wasn't for the blinding neon green!!

I bought them to play badminton, and it would be a great shoe for playing badminton except for some issues.

    Pros:
    1. Great grip for indoor court play. I felt that moving around the court was better with these shoes.
    2. Lots of cushioning around the feet. It feels like it would help with something, I don't know what.

    Cons:
    1. It is not cushioned well on the bottom. After a couple of hours of play, my knees were much more sore than from using my previous shoes which were light, sneaker like shoes with a lot of gel support on the bottom. It is also heavy which also might be contributing to the problem.
    2. Arch support. There is a lot of cushioning on the inside. So while my feet are wide at the front edge, the shoe accommodates it pretty well. But the problem is at the arch - because of the cushioning, the arch is pushed down, otherwise I can't tie my laces. Even after I tie my laces, the top looks like a wide open mouth of a crocodile.

These shoes are great. However, the rubber in the front of one shoe has started coming off.

I've strictly wore these only in the gym while playing, about 2 times a week for the past 6 months. So I question the durability of them. But I was looking for decently priced shoes for a beginner that I could practice and get better in and these do the job great.

This is the best squash shoe I have tried in a long time. I have wide feet and read this shoe was accommodating. I ordered it a half size big and it fits great width wise. It is a bit long for me but because of the great fit my foot has not slammed forward even on significant changes in direction or lunges. Toes and feet are happy. No adjustment / Break-in issues or hotspots. May order another pair just in case they are discontinued.

Great looking shoe and very comfortable. I play racquetball and the shoe provides great traction on the hard wood floor. I recommend them for volleyball, racquetball, and squash. You can't get a better racquetball shoe at this price. Expect Asics gel comfort

I live in an area of the country that focuses on running/cross country, basketball, and football. The only volleyball around here is women's volleyball, so finding these shoes in any local stores was impossible. I don't run or play any of those other sports, but because cross-training shoes are the most common, I've been using those for the last decade or so. Then I found these on Amazon. I use them to play racquetball--and they are excellent shoes! Good grip on the court and I forgot how much I missed the flatter soles on these compared to what cross-trainers and running shoes typically have. I get a much better feel for the court with these. My feet are also a little wider than average, and these fit nicer that way too.

To be honest, I've only played in these twice. However, in that short amount of time I have been nothing but impressed with these shoes. I play in a Athletic Club run Volleyball league, so I would say I am more of a casual player. I do have wider feet and these fit really well. So far, love the product.
