I have been running the earlier versions of Ruffwear's Hoopie collars (no stripe, round D-Ring, lessor buckle) on my three and my girlfriends 4 dogs (border-collie, cattle-dog, bull-terrier/cattle-dog, lab/border-collie, malinois, pit-bull & American bulldog). These are all rough and tumble breeds, most of them with big attitudes when on a walk, hike, hearding sheep & cows, and swimming in the lake and bay. These collars have gone the distance, while the lower cost collars I've picked up at the local big-box pet stores have all ended up breaking the buckles sooner or later. I am hear writing this review because after 10 years of daily use, I am replacing one of them because the red color has finally gone pink (which doesn't go well with my Male Pitbull!), and another one, attached to my 100+ lb American Bulldog (monster puller), has finally started to give up the first row of the double stiching (I know I could send it back to Ruffwear and they would either fix it for send me a new one for free, but that is now how I roll... I've gotten good use out of it, so I'll just order another one!).

Ruffwear's Collars, Leashes and harnesses are top notch products that I have field tested for years with my brutish pack of mongruls in environments that most dog owners would not dare tread. Nothing but Ruffwear for my fur-kids!

Great collar for a 70 lb, very active dog. It lasted 4 years until the ribbon holding the dog tags separated from the stitching. The plastic tag holder is all intact and attached to a small grosgrain ribbon. The ribbon is sewn onto to the collar under a rubber RUFFWEAR label. The stitching is what failed. Maybe if the ribbon was as long as the RUFFWEAR tag, it would have stayed secure. Also, you can see in the photo that we have three tags attached. Maybe if you only had the shot tag it would last longer?

I've used Ruffwear collars before and they are always good quality. This one seems to be of good quality but the "Baja Blue" I received looks completely different from the color pictured...much darker, not as vibrant. The coloring is closer to this:

This is a well-made collar. It's difficult to find dog collars that have a separate ring for tags from the ring for the leash. I got a red color for my dark brindle colored dog, and it looks very sharp. I wish it was a little bit less wide for him, but that's just me. He doesn't seem to mind it at all. So far, the collar is holding up very well, and I expect it to last a good long while.

We buy one of these a year -- one of our lab's Christmas presents. They are indestructible but she manages to get them pretty filthy and smelly, even with serious cleaning along the way. It's good looking, rugged, and the tag ring and silencer are nice features. Ruffler rocks! Five barks from here.

This collar is so really well made. The stitching is strong, the clasp is sturdy, and the rings for tags and leash attachment are strong as well. The colors haven't faded despite multiple washings and swimming expeditions, and our dog loves wearing it. It doesn't irritate his neck or get a funky smell after it's been wet. Definitely a great collar.

I love this collar for our puppy. We have a brittany spaniel. he has worn this since the day we got him (2 months old) and he is now 7 months old and just about ready to grow out of it. It is very sturdy and well made. Nice and thick and comfy for our Ranger. The clip is very sturdy and high quality. I highly recommend this collar for small to medium dogs. He is now about 45 pounds and it still fits him well with a little more room to grow.

Love this collar for our dog. We have a very active young vizsla who swims, hikes, rolls around in the dirt, etc, yet the collar still looks new even after a number of months of constant wear. The collar is super lightweight and dries quickly when washed (we've only washed it once so far). It also comes with a tag silencer – a little rubber piece that goes between the tags and stops them from jingling when the dog walks around – it works great if you don't want to hear the tags clank every time the dog moves. This collar was well worth the money.
