Ruffwear makes good products, this collar doesn't come stiff like others, I saw no chaffing on my boxer's neck, it feels good out of the package, the climbing style clips is easy to use and holds well. I think it looks like a cool technical looking collar in the wild berry adding that feminine touch to my giant boxer that everyone thinks is a male. My boxer is about 80 lbs, I got her a medium fits great! don't hesitate to buy this collar it's great! on another note, she's swam in the ocean a handful of time with it already and no fading yet, so far so good and it dries quickly.

I have several Ruffwear products for my dogs, and love them. I wanted to love these collars, as I have purchased three of them. Many of the reviewers have commented on how hard it was to unhook the collar. But, if you follow the video instructions on their website, it is not difficult. In the case of the first two I bought (Baja Blue and Wild Berry), they seemed to require some slight effort to get off, but certainly would be considered "easy" to remove. But, the third one I bought (Red Currant) requires virtually no pressure or effort at all for the collar to unhook. (I bought a second Red Currant collar, just to make certain that the first wasn't just a manufacturing defect.) For some reason, the two Red Currant collars seem to have a slightly wider "loop" making the collar much less secure. There appear to be two flaws in the design of the ones I received. First, the "hook" portion of the collar is too wide, and comes loose with little or no pressure exerted. (It appears that this may vary depending upon manufacturing process between collars.) Secondly, the v-ring (as the manufacturer calls it) is on the same portion of the collar as, and very near the "loop" portion. If the leash is pulled towards the open side of the hook, the "loop" just slides off and the collar completely disengages and comes loose from the dogs neck. (Example: If the collar is placed on the dog so that the open portion of the hook is towards his/her ears, then the dog back away, this causes the leash to pull towards the dogs head, the collar just unhooks and drops loose.) Had the v-ring had been placed further away on the collar, this might have been less of a problem.Read more ›

LOOOOOOOVE this. I have had this for about a month and a half now to replace our planet dog hemp collar. I was a little apprehensive about the clasp, but upon closer inspection, I came to realize that I have nothing to worry about. The collar does not "self adjust" when my 40+puppy pulls because the plastic has teeth that catch the grooves on the nylon collar assuring that it doesn't slip.
I really like the rubber piece that prevents the clinging of his tag, it is easy to take off when we go camping so I can hear him and easy to put on when we're in the city in small spaces.
The best part of this collar however is the extra loop for the the leash attachment. I can literarily put this on with one hand (think to go coffee in one hand , easy slip on leash in the other) without missing a beat in the mooring!
Last, this collar is super light, durable (so far) and I love the vibrant color.
The only thing I would change is having a reflective piece for night time walking...

Absolutely love this collar with the snazzy clasp! I have two Boxers.. 73 and 60 pounds. I got the blue one and the red one both in Medium. They look and fit great! First day out and people stopped me to ask where I got them. The hardware is functional and slick. It is well made and comfortable . I purchased two more for friends!

I ordered two of these collars for a dog who has gone through a few collars already as they were relatively inexpensive for a good brand name collar. I ordered one in red and one in blue, both large sized, and they fit my dog well. The red collar I have no problem taking on and off, but the blue collar is a teeny tiny bit smaller where the talon hook attaches/detaches and it's significantly more difficult to get that one on or off.

On the bright side, I don't see this collar coming off or failing under normal use. It's very lightweight and the tag silencer, while not totally effective, does help cut down on my dog's two tags jingling together. I wish this one was reflective, but I think they were a good investment until he gets a more expensive fancier collar down the line.

Great collar design. Sturdy, nice weight, well constructed. The exception is the sewn on tag hanger. After a couple months I can see the stitching starting to loosen and it beginning to peel off. My plan is to get a D ring and slide it in the small gap beside the clasp in the grey section. THis should fix the only flaw I can find so far.

I was a bit skeptical about the open clasp, but after seeing it in action I have no more concern. If my dog eventually outgrows the current collar I'd have no hesitation getting this same collar. Hopefully RuffWear addresses the tag hanger, and it would get 5 stars.
