Really Comfortable

I live in Arizona, but travel back east to see family in the winter, so I wanted a shoe that was waterproof and a bit warmer for possible snow contact, but that was not a "winter snow boot" so that I could still wear them comfortably with jeans and khakis during our balmy Phoenix winters. This seemed like a happy medium and I'm so glad I got them!

I am a shoe snob. I discovered Merrell's a few years ago and have been wearing their 0-drop minimalist sneakers and flats ever since. I NEVER wear heels or platforms anymore and my back and hips have never felt better. It's hard to find a stylish FLAT boot with a comfortable foot bed and a nice grippy, flexible sole. I know I'm probably never going to find a truly "minimalist" winter boot or shoe (for a reasonable price, anyway), but I think this is about as close as I could get. These boots are COMFORTABLE and supportive, without being too far off from a 0-drop. The soles flex very well and the M-Grip tread will keep me upright on sidewalk ice no problem. The leather is a good quality and they are sturdy and well made. I'm very happy I found these and may get another pair in the Haven line, I like them so much!

As for the fit--I almost always wear an 8 in Merrell's (I've had to size up once to an 8.5). I have wide-ish, flat feet. I ordered the 8 and they fit perfectly with some cushy athletic socks. They are also easy on and off with the side zippers, even with the socks on.

Edit 2/11/15: Finally had an opportunity to test the waterproofing of these boots. Had to slosh about in a flooding patio to set up a water pump during a rainstorm. I wore these boots for the task, into about 4 inches deep water. My feet remained dry as a bone. There did seem to be a slight color change in the leather afterward (darkening), even after they dried, but the change was uniform as the whole boot got pretty wet, so not really noticeable unless you knew what the boots looked like before.

Sizing: I normally wear a straight-up size 6.5 in boots, really no matter the brand. I like to wear a normal-thickness pair of tight athletic socks. I almost bought a size 6 after reading some of the reviews about the boots being way too large, but I ended up going with my gut and sticking with a 6.5. I'm so glad I did - they are the perfect fit. Just enough room in the toe box with socks on. I think that if you have narrow feet, the boots might feel too loose for you around the side of the foot. I have a normal width, so they felt comfortable to me. Keep in mind that you can somewhat adjust the tightness of the boot with those side button things. They are a little difficult to work with, but it's doable. If this helps, I wear a 7 in Merrell's hiking shoes, so I somewhat sized down into my usual boot size to purchase these.

Arch support: kind of meh, but not terrible either. I'd rate it somewhere in-between. You can always swap out the insoles for your custom orthotics.

Style: intended to be somewhat comfy-slouchy, so if you're looking for a more stiffly-conforming boot, I would recommend you try a different style. These have a kind of an urban mod feel to them, which I love!

Love these boots!!!

I originally got a size 9 (my usual) size and had to send them back. They were way too small. I need a large toebox. Interesting because all I wear is Merrell's and size 9 has always worked for me. Just received my size 10s. I love them! I have to admit they fit perfectly at the bottom and are loose at the top but that is how I like them. You can also tighten the tops with adjustable buttons if you want. But I always sort of like to shlep around in my boots. I am thrilled. Love the Goose color too, as I feel it will go with everything from jeans to sweats.

Wonderful Boots

Comfortable from the first minute you out them on! Funky looking. Nice cushiony feel. No need to break these in--they are good to go immediately. Arch support could be a bit better, but is fine for walking around for long periods (walking the dog, around the city, etc.)Best of all, they do not slip on slippery surfaces--good traction. While these are nor rally polished enough for me to wear to work, they are funky and comfortable to wear everywhere else--with jeans, with shirt skirt and leggings, etc.Merrels do not disappoint!

Comfortable and cute

I bought these for a trip to Germany. They are great for walking and I especially appreciated there warmth and the fact that they are waterproof on cold, windy, rainy days. They are light weight and very comfortable. The color goes well with everything. I have foot problems but these accommodated my orthotic inserts without difficulty. The leather is high quality and the boots are becoming more supple and developing a richer color each time I wear them.

I wanted an easy on, easy off, comfy, waterproof boot that feels like a barefoot shoe. These come pretty close. I haven't worn them much yet, but they have a nice flat sole and are loose and easy to get on. They do not "cuddle" the foot, meaning that they are loose fitting on the inside, I imagine they will soften up and maybe then they will be a bit more form fitting. They should be great with polar fleece socks when it is cold since they are not lined for warmth. I live in CA so not looking for too much warmth, more about dryness when walking the dog in the rain and wet grass.

Great for a wide foot
