The soft touch varnish does feel different than the actual "Americana Decor" paint. The Americana Decor paint scratches so easily, but I love the feel to it, so I found this varnish to use over it, but I didn't wan to lose the feel to it the original feel of the Americana Decor paint. It does feel different, but I believe this is the closest I'll get to the original Americana Decor feel. The varnish does feel soft and and it doesn't scratch at all, and it's not glossy one bit.

after using this product for the first time, I LOVED IT!!!! There is NO ODOR and the coverage is awesome. I used it over a white chalk painted dresser and it did not yellow one bit. It has such a nice feel to it making the furniture feel luxe yet, it doesn't give the fake looking shine. My piece still has a 'chalk painted' look, which I love! It does not scratch helping to protect the painted piece. I bought the 8 oz size jar and covered and entire 6 drawer dresser having enough for 2 coats on the top (for extra protection to the paint) I will definitely purchase this product again and I highly recommend it!

With this size jar of varnish, I was able to apply two coats to an Ikea Lack coffee table and an Ikea Lack side table. My only complaint is that because it dries quickly, you can get little balls of dried varnish transferred back to the furniture. I would suggest washing the brush between surfaces or when you notice the varnish getting dry on the brush. I think if I had used a sponge roller instead, I could avoid some of that hassle. It feels just like modge podge though.

This product is great. Used this in place of using the wax over chalk paint. Went on very easily, smooth to the touch. Paint didn't scratch off. Put 2 coats on areas that would be used regularly. Just wish they would market it in larger containers because I plan on using this product all the time.

I painted a shelf in gray chalk paint and used the varnish because the shelf was going to be in the bathroom. I applied 2 coats with a small soft brush, the varnish went on easier, barely any odor, dried quickly and dried smoothly. Looking at the shelf, it still has the look that I love from chalk paint but I feel more comfortable that it's protected from moisture. The brush cleaned easily with a little soap and warm water. Next, I'm tackling my dining table!
