An easy install in my DELL XPS8700. Since I already had CYBERLINK 13 installed on my computer, I just ran the disc included with the drive and loaded the software I needed. Blu-Ray playback is flawless! Burning a Blu-Ray disc is quick ( less than 40 minutes to burn 22Gb to a 25Gb disc ). The dive came with all the mounting hardware and cables ( SATA and power ), plus software.
Would I buy this again? You betcha!

This is by far the loudest blu-ray drive I've ever heard.

When loading the enclosed software, this thing sounded like a mini leaf blower. When playing movies, it was quieter, but still distractingly loud.

It's looks great in my case, is really fast, and if it were quiet, I would give it a nearly perfect rating.

But the excessive noise seals the deal for me.

Edit: since I wrote this review, I tried a free program called Rimhill which you can use to adjust the BE read speed all the way down to as low as 1X. Now the drive noise isn't intolerable. Bumping up a couple of stars.

This model came as a complete package from LG and contained:
Optical Drive
SATA 3 Cable
PC-SATA Power Adapter Cable (3" in length)
4 - 3mm Screws for Mounting
CyberLink Software
Installed the drive into a Dell OptiPlex 9020 in the 2nd slot, straight-forward install.
Dell already had a SATA power connection, then connected the supplied SATA cable from drive to motherboard.
Powered up Dell and Win7Prox64 automatically loaded a standard Windows driver, no LG driver was needed.
Ran a CD and DVD write/verify/read tests and it worked perfectly and quietly, much quieter than the Dell supplied Matsushita DVD burner in slot 1.
Installed CyberLink Software consisting of:
CyberLink PowerDVD 10.0.5507.52 (Player )
CyberLink Power2Go 7.0.0.3328 (Disc Burner )

I wanted the latest 16x Blu-Ray burner drive from LG. In addition, PowerDVD 9 was constantly cutting off the built-in mobo VIA VT1828S CODEC sound and also freezing. PowerDVD 9, which was included with my old retail-boxed LG 12x Blu-Ray burner, was constantly giving me headaches.

This LG 16x drive includes CyberLink PowerDVD 10.0.5507.52. The disk includes other software. However, they are at least 3 years old so I did not install them. I already have full Nero 10, Corel VideoStudio Pro X6 and Corel PaintShop Pro X6 so I did not need them. PowerDVD 10 works fine with no further problems. I installed the LG 16x drive and PowerDVD 10 because I want to rent Lucy (Blu-ray), pretty much the only movie I planned to see in the theater for 2014 but I was unable to.

Tonight, for the first time ever, I rented a movie on Blu-Ray, Non-Stop (Blu-ray) to test PowerDVD 10. Because of the extra security features on Blu-Ray, I was expecting problems. PowerDVD 10 did direct me to download and install a 6.31 MB file: CyberLink.v3809_OEM_DKA_U_DVD120206-03.exe. I believe this file contains updated keys to decrypt Blu-Ray movies so you can play them.

After exiting PowerDVD 10, downloading/installing the file and some moaning and groaning, PowerDVD 10 played Non-Stop fine. Unfortunately, the disk I rented had a small 5mm scratch on it. Blu-Ray is 5 times more compacted than DVD. The movie froze at about 44 minutes and PowerDVD 10 along with it. Even when Windows 7-64 closed P10, it was still stuck in RAM.Read more ›

I like Lite-On Blu Ray burners, but could not find one that was similar to the 212-08 that I had before. I purchased this one as it had good specs and the reviews were pretty good.

It's working just fine and it is performing, at this point, very good. It seems to be quiet and smooth in it's operation. I have not burned anything with the drive at this point.
