Showrunner Graham Yost has confirmed along with FX that next season (season 6) will be the shows final season. Season 5 will most likely set up a lot for the shows swan song. There are some great additions to the cast this season, Michael Rapaport as Daryl Crowe Jr., and Alicia Witt as Wendy Crowe, Daryl’s sister. The Crowes are to be this seasons Big Bad, so expect to see a lot more of Dewey Crowe, who now has a substantial amount of his own money awarded to him by the state of Kentucky for the Marshal’s services wrong treatment of him through out the shows previous 4 seasons. Will Sasso and Dave Foley play the Canadians, who Boyd and Wynn Duffy will now be dealing with since their contacts with the Detroit mafia are all now dead. I hope we will be seeing more of Dave Foley and Will Sasso. But one of the best additions to the cast this season is David Koechner in a slightly more serious roll than he normally plays, as Deputy Greg Sutter, I really hope the comedians that round out this seasons cast get some decent screen time.

This season starts strong but does feel slightly different than previous seasons, that isn’t a good thing or bad thing, yet. I have really loved this show since the first episode, and I love that the writers and producers have an end game in mind so there will be a sense of direction and hopefully closure when all is said and done at the end of next season. So far I really like the new additions to the cast, the great balance of comedy, action and drama as the show has always had. And the show regulars Timothy Olyphant (Raylan Givens) and Walton Goggins (Boyd Crowder) excel at bringing their characters to life.

This is Season 5 for Justified and I have watched it from Season 1 and it has been one of the best things I can ever remember watching on TV.

Justified has been one of the premier programs on television for 4 seasons and going into the 5th season it shows no signs of letting up on quality or entertainment value. The characters are interesting (if not sometimes conflicted) and each week you are left with a "OH NO, it's over until next week!". It is that good and trying to figure out what comes next is usually an exercise in futility and frustration, the writers for this show are top shelf talent.

The "sneak preview" indicates it might get a bit darker and I hope they don't lose that touch of humor that is one of the things that makes it rise above any competition. Boyd has to get the love of his life back and I am guessing he will not be nice about getting revenge on the ones who are responsible for her situation. Good times ahead indeed :)

NOTE: If you have Amazon Prime, you can watch the first 4 Seasons (that I paid for) for FREE! You will never get another deal like that for such quality entertainment.

UPDATE: Well we are getting much closer to the end of this season and I hesitate to think what Boyd might do before the end of this season if things do not get fixed soon.

We watched the entire season in just a couple of nights. Justified continues to entertain and keep me wanting more. Best show on tv- hands down.

Excellent writing and characterization. Timothy Olyhant reminds me of a young Clint Eastwood. Make sure you start at season one, though, to really enjoy the show properly.

The writers on this show do a great job of injecting humor into the dramatic. The actor's never appoint either.

I badly want to give this 4-5 stars, but just cannot bring myself to do it. That's certainly not Olyphant's fault. He is in rare form as Raylan Givens while the hair-trigger Deputy U.S. Marshal starts to slip more toward the dark side.

At first I thought it was somewhat fun that the writers decided to bring in the Crowe family from Florida. It turned out to be a terrible mistake. The chemistry just wasn't there, and despite being more physical and brutal, even the smartest of them is only marginally more intelligent than the comic relief character Dewey.

The Ava Crowder story line is long, tedious, excessively trite, and entirely without point.

One scene that was built up as an epic encounter just waiting to be played out turned out to be an exercise in laughable stupidity.

The writers, much like this review, were simply all over the map. Thankfully, they brought the story to a very definitive point with the conclusion, setting up what is supposed to be the epic final season where Givens will finally get to face off against his nemesis.

The problem I've had with season five is that it takes away from the most interesting characters to give screen time to ones who are either uninteresting or unnecessary. Ava begins her jail term, welcome a whole new group of women looking to hurt her, and a group looking to protect her. Meanwhile, you have much more limited screen time of Raylan, and two scenes the whole season with Winona. Tim and Rachel? Don't get your hopes up. You can count their episodes on one hand. But you get to meet the Crowe family, who are completely unlikeable and a particularly odd casting choice. They don't have the charisma of a Ma Bennett or a Neal McDonagh. Even the most eccentric, likeable character of Wynn Duffy has next to no time on screen, despite being a major player.

It made a lot of episodes boring and uninteresting. Please, go back to more Raylan centered stories for the final season.
