I have been using this product for many many years, and find that consistently, this makes my 66 year old hair always get compliments. I have been a "bleached blond" since I was in my teens, and have been using this product almost as long. During the summer I usually need this weekly, during the winter maybe only monthly. People are always asking what I use on my hair as it always looks healthy and bouncy, and my naturally straight hair always keeps a set. Great shine! With using this product weekly you don't even need a daily conditioner, as I have always washed my hair every day. When my hair looks nice I always feel pretty, and this certainly helps. If your hair takes forever to blow dry, and doesn't keep a set, then you need this product. When you have hair up to shoulder length you only need 1 tube. Longer you will need 2, or 1 package, as each package comes with 2 tubes. Easy instructions, put tube in glass of hot water for 1 minute, and squeeze onto wet hair, work through hair, as you would a shampoo, leave on for 1 minute, I leave on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes, and then rinse and wash your hair as usual. Fabulous on it's own for permed hair! A couple of times in my life I have permed my hair, you know the "Flash Dance" era. Right after you get a perm, you know you aren't supposed to wash your hair for a week? Well I have used this instead of shampoo, a couple of times that first week, and my perm has lasted longer, stayed soft, and not dried out. So, straight hair or curly, this is a great product. No special or expensive products needed. I've tried them all, and always come back to and am totally happy with this product.

It's like the other reviews said- sometimes the "old stand by" is the best. I used this years ago as a young girl ( I'm in my 40's now) and I wanted to see if it could do the trick (as when I was younger). So- I purchased and it works- follow the instructions and your hair will be softer for sure. I used two tubes because my hair is long- probably could have went with three, honestly. But, I really did a number on my hair because I had "one day" when I thought a perm was a good idea- not so much- dried and damaged now. If you have longer hair get a little more! You will like it. I have used "high end" products and they are never what they say they will be, they just aren't. I have thin baby fine hair that doubles in size when I style it- I'm an 80's girl ( we know volume- LOL) and you would never know my hair was so thin when I fix it. If you want to hydrate and keep your hair soft and manageable- use this product - you will be glad you did!

I live in the Midwest where the spring and summers are extremely humid. Every time I blow dry and style my shoulder length hair, it's a frizzy mess in no time. I was looking through some pictures from 15 years ago when my hair was a little longer than it is now, and my hair looked great. I never seemed to have to battle frizz back then. After thinking on it for a while, I remembered why: I used to use VO5 Hot Oil every other week!!

After searching through Target and not finding it, I came to Amazon and found exactly what I was looking for. After two treatments, my hair is frizz free even in the soupy atmosphere here where I live. This product has been around so long for a reason: it actually works!

If you have fried your hair, you really do need to replenish the protein and not just deep condition your hair. The protein gives something for the conditioning agents to bond to. However, follow the directions! Leaving it on for more time is not better. It is not a deep conditioner. It doesn't even feel like oil, really. You put it on for one minute and shampoo it out. Too much protein actually makes your hair brittle!

I thought I remembered my mother using this when I was kid, and leaving it on with a cap for a long time, but this is not the product to do that with. Don't do that! One minute!

I have oily hair which now and then gets really damaged from me coloring it and it starts acting like dry frizzy hair. It seems like a few times a year I reach for this hot oil treatment because nothing else works as well. I use two tubes per use so one package is enough for one use. I heat both tubes in some hot water and put this in before I shower. By the time I get in the shower it is ready to rinse out. So I probably keep it in my hair for less than two minutes once it is all in my hair. You actually shampoo this out right away. It works. My hair is now silky again. Until I have to color it again! I love to twirl my hair and now it feels so soft. I love this hot oil treatment.
