The biggest compliant I have about this product is that the blanket doesn't go all the way to the end of the mat... My daughter is four years old and 48 inches tall, and her feet hang out of the bottom, she complained so much about hating to take naps at school, and the teacher kept sending home notes saying that she didn't sleep today (and I have a good napper!), so I added a shirt to the blanket. You can't beat the price and quality of this blanket except that one flaw. I went and bought three yards of cotton fabric, gathered it and sewed it on leaving about a foot shirt around the two sizes of the blanket. Now when she rolls over when she is sleeping she won't wake up because she became uncovered. I will try and post pictures.

I didn't need to buy a mat for preschool (they supplied the thick blue ones so I only had to bring in a toddler sheet + blanket), but mine is starting K next week and a nap mat was on the school supplies list so I ordered the pink fairy patterned one. She's 5 1/2 y/o and 44" tall and you can see from the pictures, both the mat and blanket are generous in size. I asked her to lay exactly as how she would during naptime and as you can see - there is a few inches left so her feet won't dangle over the edge. I measured - the mat is really 50" long which is pretty generous. While I personally don't think mine will nap in K, I think it's made well and I recommend for anyone whose kid does still nap. The mat is about 1 1/2" thick + the attached blanket is about 1/2". That might not seem thick enough, but most PreK and K classes are over padded floors so it's actually enough. The pillow is a standard toddler sized pillow that is inserted into the top back portion of the mat and is comfortable for a child. I don't understand what the other reviewers were talking about when they said it was not comfortable material: both the mat, pillow + the blanket is comfortable. My mat did not have a smell when it arrived, but I washed it anyway. No piling and it looks / smells perfect.
My worse case scenario - i spent $35 on a mat she never sleeps on but is comfortable to sit or lay on at school (and eventually as a playmat at home)
