I read about umami powder in the Nom Nom Paleo book but wasn't motivated to make my own. So I was glad to find this. I love the flavor and love the fact that it is all natural. I sprinkle it on scrambled eggs, add to soups and use it on hamburgers. It adds a complexity of flavor without adding any distinctive flavor. (In other words, my mushroom hating hubby doesn't know what I've added!) I will definitely be a repeat customer.

We love adding Takii Umami powder while cooking. It's not an overpowering flavor but it does add a nice savory background taste. We can't use soy at our house so we have been looking for substitutes for miso, tamari, tofu, etc. This is a nice addition to coconut aminos, hemp tofu, and chickpea or adzuki bean miso to add a fermented soy taste without soy.

Baloney, what is all this Umami...Oooooooo......MmmmmmMMMM (where have you been all this time?) This powder doesn't necessarily take like shiitake mushrooms, so I added it to a skirt steak and noticed an extra "oomph" of flavor. It is as if this makes flavors a bit more three-dimensional in your mouth, but without using monosodium glutimate (MSG) which some people have had adverse reactions to. In my never-ending quest of finding new flavors in my amateur career as kitchen chef in my home, this Umami powder now holds a prestigious place as being part of my culinary arsenal.

I made lasagna last night, finally a chance to use this powder. Man was I amazed at the final
results.

I've made lasagna the same way for over 10 years, it never tasted like this, and everybody raved
about it.... wanted my recipe. When I showed them this bag they all went...."oooohhh, whats that?"

Just goes to show you, you cant teach people anything. Going to try this in some stir fry tonight.
