I received my Phantom 2 less that a week ago. I've flown it on about 10 occasions since then and these prop guards have saved my Phantom's props countless times already. The most common safeguard they provide is when the Phantom 2 lands, it often tips partly over with its props still running. Without the prop guards, the prop blades would collide violently with the ground and likely be damaged. With the prop guards mounted, just the guards tap the ground and the props are untouched. I've also had a few more violent crashes and, again, the prop guards have perfectly protected the props. A gust of wind came up and I lost control of the Phantom 2 about 20 feet up. It fell HARD to the ground, yet there was no damage whatsoever to the props and the guards did not "snap" as I feared they might. (Yes, I should know better than to fly in the wind!) For a novice "pilot" like me, these are the best investment I could've made to safeguard the props from my newbie miscues. Highly recommended.

These prop guards saved my Phantom , I guess my depth perception , and not knowing the direction my copter was going , I managed to set 2 prop guards on the 35,000 volt lines about 600 ' away and survive without killing it , without the guards it would have come down . If you are an idiot like me and get to close to it running , you will appreciate them . Keep in mind it won't fit in their custom $200.00 case , but I'll bet you can find a bigger and maybe better one cheaper . I may be an idiot , but this is the coolest copter ( and this is number 9 for me ) , I've killed the previous 8 , that other than my high voltage wire balancing act have not crashed (yet) , I can even land it , and that is important .

Aside from protecting my props, I purchased these thinking its the "safe" thing to do, and also thought these would make my Phantom 2 easier to see in flight. I installed them per directions, even stringing them with the included string guard. It did make the aircraft appear larger and I added red decals to the appropriate guards to enhance ground visibility.

The first flight with the guards was wobbly and the Phantom felt sluggish. I landed and did a careful compass calibration. Everything was GREEN to go. I wanted to try some "proximity" flying in my garden, thinking the guards would deflect any contact if I got too close to anything. At waist high level my Phantom brushed a small palm and tumbled all of two feet. A prop guard immediately snapped and the string was caught up in the propeller. I feel the guards contributed to the crash since the controsl felt sluggish. I'm not a beginner pilot, I've been flying RC and full scale aircraft for over twenty years. My advice is not to use these unless you're a rookie.

I got these thinking they would protect my Phantom 2 from breaking when it crashed or when I hit something. The prop guards made the Phantom impossible to fly. I thought that I had brought a faulty Phantom. It was only after one of my friends suggested taking them off and trying it. It immeadiatly worked. Not sure if these are just the wrong company to buy from but if you really want a pair of these go to the DJI website as they may work better. And TRUST ME it is not fun to see your $1000 quadrotor fall out of the sky and break. It actually broke my GoPro as well when it fell. DO NOT BUY FOR ANY REASON.

These prop guards are sweet. I'm just learning how to fly and they totally help the Phantom 2 simply bounce off any walls or obstacles. Doesn't help much when you hit trees though...

I bought these so I could safely fly my new Phantom. The guards came, but were missing the longer screws so I wasn't able to use them. I am now confident enough flying my Phantom that I probably won't be putting them on. I have flown about 20 times now and have only had 2 tip overs on landings on the first few flights (on grass). Unless you are going to be flying indoors (which is stupid anyway) these are unneeded. I would take this money and invest it in a prop balancer so if you do crash and nick a blade you can clean it up and balance it. (and balance all your props for that matter)

The guards work fine. They do affect the overall stability in a negative way, especially when descending straight down. The Guards require longer screws, which will damage the motors if used without the Guards, so be carefull. The Phantom will not fit in its custom carrying case with the Guards attached, and there is no place in the case to store the Guards.

Eh? I can see why some people would find these valuable. They're not for me, however. Or anyone else, in my opinion, who has the ability to gain skill at flying. (Some people just don't have it.)
If you are breaking blades on take off or landing - You're doing it wrong. These guards will protect you from breaking as many blades - BUT - The thing just does NOT fly nearly as well. They are heavy, and bulky. And they even make it more difficult to fly if there is ANY breeze whtsoever. It is literally adding additional weight and bulk to a precisely engineered flying machine. Anything you do to add to the Phantom is going to cause a decrease in performance. Even Decals can cause problems. (No Joke!) My suggestion would be to take off and land from a softer spot -until you get the hang of it. There are all types of soft grass spots and or areas all over the place that would do well while in training. Even just a 2x2 piece of foam on top of your case would work. These prop guards are guaranteed to prevent you from two things - Breaking blades and Achieving your full Potential. Fly smarter, and you will get better. Use these guards and you will not. That simple. You either fall into one of two categories - (1) Someone who has the potential of learning to fly this craft the way it was meant to be used (Safely) or (2) someone who is bound to wreck it into a lake in 0mph wind anyway. The prop guards are only going to hold you back if you possess any talent.
