I've been an XM radio subscriber for over a decade...since 2002 as a matter of fact. I've had many radios over that time. This is easily the best radio they've ever made. And it's not even close.

The good:
- It has 20 presets; two banks of 10. I've found that to be more than enough.
- Screen is bright, easy to read, and organized.
- TuneStart. This alone is worth the purchase. After the radio has been running for a few minutes, whenever I tune to a station in my presets, it starts at the beginning of the song. It makes scanning around for music a far more enjoyable experience. You'll never again find a song you want to hear and only be able to catch the last 30 seconds.
- TuneMix. Start this mode and your radio will play one complete song from a random preset. After the song ends, it'll change to another channel and play another complete song there. It works with most music channels and it's an easy way to listen to a mix of all your presets. The best part of TuneMix is the ability to skip a song you don't want to hear and simply jump to the next one.
- Supports the Xtra/2.0 channels that only the newest XM radios can tune to. These channels have far better sound quality than the regular 1.0 channels.

The bad:
- If you're an audiophile, XM may frustrate you. The standard 1.0 channels often sound compressed. The 2.0 channels sound much better, however.
- Plug and play radio. The plus is that you can install it yourself. The downside is that since you're doing it yourself, it won't be as clean of an install as if the receiver was built into your car. Doesn't bother me, but I could see some people wanting something more integrated.

This unit is what makes Sirius work for me. My wife has the "built-in" Sirius unit by the manufacturer. It operates just like a radio. No frills.

I have this aftermarket unit, and I'm blown away. The unit records all 10 of your presets (or maybe 20?) so that when you switch channels, it plays from the beginning of the song. Unlike FM or the "built-in Sirius radio" in my other car where you are just listening in real-time. This feature is handy for mulitple reasons. It is nice to hear everything from the beginning, just as if I was using an MP3 player and was just fast-forwarding to the next song. Instead I'm just switching stations and listening from the beginning.

Added bonus? If you are driving through a tunnel, it is likely you'll have some buffer of audio to listen to while sitting in traffic with no line-of-sight to the satellite.

Another great feature? Song and artist alert! Nearly any song by Electric Light Orchestra can put me in a good mood. Yet, I don't always want to listen in on 70s on 7 or Classic Vinyl. I set the artist alert and any time ELO comes on, I hit one button on the unit and it just tunes right to that station.

And what is even better? The artist alert works across stations outside of my presets. Apparently the unit scans the entire SiriusXM bandwidth and captures the Artist/Song information and checks it against my alerts.

The only con of the system is that I installed it myself. Which isn't really a fault of the unit. I could have paid a professional to run the wiring. But even someone that was not comfortable with installing it, it took about 20-30 minutes. I just managed to run the cabling along the footboards/carpet of the car and affixed it with some tape. 6 months later, it is holding up fine.

I had this satellite Radio installed at a local Best Buy. I chose the SiriusXM Select package. I am very pleased with the performance of this device. All channels are crystal clear and being able to rewind my favorite songs are a plus. There are several features that set this satellite apart from others. I love the 20 preset buttons for my favorite channels and the color screen looks great. The install was very clean and professional. The radio does not look like a cheap add on. It matches my interior perfectly. I strongly recommend a professional installation if you buy this radio. The sound quality is much better having this wired directly to your factory radio vs using the FM transmitter option. I have this installed my 2009 BMW X6 35i.

I bought this product to replace an older model of XM radio . Installation was very simple, took very little time to hook it up. Reception is outstanding, rarely loses the signal like the other radio did. I would highly recommend this unit for anyone wanting a good non-factory installed XM radio in their car.

I had been waiting years for a radio that had the same features as the skyfi 2 as the selector disc was starting to go out on my old one that i use in my semi and I didn't want to compromise on features. The Onyx plus has almost ( you only get 20 preset channels instead of 30) all the features of the skyfi 2 plus you get the extra channels that are offered on the new radios.

Pros: Favorite artist/song/sport teams alert feature. Color screen. Album art if available. Lighter and smaller than the skyfi 2. Instant favorite city traffic button

Cons: Not enough mounting options ( had to go to another site and purchase a flat mount ( the one that comes with the skyfi 2 vehicle kit) for my dash then modify it for the radio). No owners manual so you are kinda in the dark if you can't get online to get to the manual to access all the features properly.Trying to change channels manually while driving is not advisable- hard to use selector wheel while driving.

All in all if you are wanting to replace an old radio or start your adventure in satellitte radio I would reccomend the Onyx Plus. It has the best features out there
