I have been using this for a few months on my Alienware m11x and it works great. It charges my computer up quickly and seems to be very sturdy. I like the light on the part that attaches to your computer because you can easily see when it is providing power. I have no doubt that this is an official Dell charger. It has the logo on it and looks identical to the one on the Dell website, just at a more reasonable price. My original charger lasted me four years so hopefully this one will last just as long.

Update: Almost 4 months now, using it daily. Works just as well as the day I got it. I can leave it plugged in all day and night, and it will barely even feel warm to the touch. I move it between rooms a few times a week, and the plug hasn't shown any wear yet.

I purchased this product to replace the charger I received with my computer. While the specs were all correct, the converter shorted out before a year of use. I should have returned it for replacement under the 1-year warranty. Still, under 1 year is far too short for product life. Dell needs to design a better product.

This works fine with my old Dell Latitude D600.

I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 and found it would no longer charge the batteries due to some issue with the Windows 7 drivers that handle the battery charging and data communication with the power supply. I don't know why the computer needs to have a data connection to the power supply, but apparently it does. Anyway, this charger fixed the issue and I can charge my batteries once again.

You may have the same issue if the battery tray icon displays "connected, not charging" and will not charge the battery. I tried reinstalling the battery and power drivers, checked continuity on the data wire in the charger, changed out batteries, checked input and output voltages, checked connection continuity. Nothing fixed it and there were no other problems found. My old charger was a cheap generic one though, so apparently whatever the computer has to communicate with it about was not working.

Appears genuine Dell OEM (purchased from seller pure-souce tx). Works perfectly, powers on and charges Dell latitude d630, should also works with models listed on the dell website.

I like that the tip that plugs into the computer has the plugged in indicator light, as opposed to the power brick as on old models. Cord is plenty long and brick is much smaller than original model power cable for the d630.

This charger worked fine for 5 months and then failed.

The LED wouldn't turn on and it stopped charging. I couldn't get it working again. The listing says there is a 1 year warranty, but the manufacturer won't cover it and the seller won't cover it so it's essentially useless. Ignore the warranty.

Unacceptable.

I purchased a used Dell Inspiron laptop as a back up for my main laptop. The people who had it didn't have the original power supply that came with it but had purchased an aftermarket one. Turns out they had the wrong one for that laptop, which was causing the laptop to act strangely. By searching the service code on the bottom of the laptop, on the Dell web site, I discovered that this was the right power supply and after plugging it in, the laptop works as it is supposed to. I like the light on the plug (where it goes into the laptop) which shows if it's powered on or not also. The design of this unit is sleek and looks durable.

My old charger was fraying and kind of unsafe. I wasn't planning on buying a new laptop anytime soon so this was a great refresh. It is smaller and lighter than the previous one and a much better design. The strain relief on the chord is much better. I am using this on an M11xR2 and it works great.
