My 10 year old daughter made this scarf without help. She loved making her scarf and had a huge sense of accomplishment when she finished. I now understand why:). It looked like so much fun that I decided to make a scarf too. 20 hours or so later:), I have a scarf that I made too. I bought my own yarn and used the loom, hook, and needle that came with the kit. It's very simple to do but, the pegs come out easily. It's true that the yarn can unwind if you let go. You just lose the row you were looping but, that can be frustrating. I think this is a great craft for a child with a lot of patience, as it will take a long time to finish. The end results are fabulous. It's very exciting to have something you can actually wear that you or your child :) created.

I have been wanting to get this for my stepdaughter for a long time. I kept looking at it until I finally had to purchase it. It is perfect for her. She loves to be creative and right now she has really gotten into sewing, stitching..etc. Anything that includes yarn she is into. It is great for her age (11) , and even better for beginners like her. It came very well packaged and arrived very quickly. I recommend!!

This item was specifically asked for as a Christmas gift. However, the recipient has become frustrated with the "loops" coming undone while she's trying to make the scarf so for now has given up and put the entire kit away. It's been much more difficult for her to use than from what she'd expected. Those commercials always make it "look" easy. Some may not have any issues with this kit, but for one 9 year old girl, her "much wished for" gift quickly became a disappointment.

Yarn with the actual set does not seem adequate to complete the scarf. Glad I purchased extra yarn.Other than the small amt of yarn the product had clear directions for use and the loom made of quality plastic

I bought this kit for my 9-year-old granddaughter for Christmas. She was so excited to use it. She is very dextrous and enjoys needlework. She carefully followed the directions, and looked at a YouTube video, and couldn't even get a scarf started. She became very frustrated, packed it back up, and I returned it to Toys R Us today, with a 50% restocking charge! Then I went to a post office that's inside a hardware store, and sitting behind the counter with her mom was a 10-year-old girl with a Darn Yarn kit! I asked if she was able to figure it out; she said no, so she was using the yarn to make pom poms! Either this is a totally unusable product or the directions are terrible. In either case, I would not recommend buying this product.

I bought this for my 10 year old niece. We tried to make it together and by the end of our attempt we felt we were in fashion hell! It's name is accurate, that Darn Yarn!!! The string kept unraveling again and again after each successful time we made it around the loom. We are going back to a traditional knitting needle like our ancestors did! Do not buy this unless you want to be frustrated or feel bad about yourself.

Definitely NOT for beginners and NOT for ages 8 and up.
