Our kid is still very rough with his toys. We already own the Playskool Sesame Street Big Hugs Elmo Plush, which is really great aside from being vulnerable to the rough handling of a baby.

[Good]

Durable: There's no automatic moving parts. This doll can take the abuse from younger children.

It talks and it's not loud enough to make anyone deaf unlike stuffed toys from Hallmark.

Price: It's pretty good for talking toy that's durable.

[Bad]

The voice: Everyone knows Elmo's voice. Everyone will eventually realize that this doll does not have Elmo's voice. It's close, but this is a deal breaker for me.

There's really nothing cool about this doll. It doesn't do anything but talk and allow you to manually move his arms. With the Playskool Sesame Street Big Hugs Elmo Plush, he moves his mouth while talking. He moves his arms and he has a ton of phrases. Not only that, he also realizes when he's being hugged, when he's upside down, and when he's lying down. It's an awesome toy. This peek a boo Elmo toy isn't bad, but it's not awesome either.

[Verdict]

It's a inexpensive, talking Elmo doll that can take abuse. It's good for younger children.

In spite of the fact that one arm is slightly bent so that when Elmo covers his eyes, one eye doesn't get covered, this toy makes my 8-month-old grandson smile every time.

Elmo's voice is cute and it makes cute noises. I think it was well worth the price (on sale) but not full price. The arms are hard to move because the tummy has to be squeezed in the right place and might be hard for a younger child. My daughter is 7 and she thought it was SO cute and that her nephew was going to love it....

This is not a great Elmo toy. While my kid likes it okay, there are clearly a few deficiencies. The way this toy is supposed to work is that you squeeze his stomach in, and hit causes his arms to rotate and cover his eyes. Thus playing Peek-a-Boo. For one thing, Elmo's arms are not aligned symmetrically, so when you squeeze his stomach, he does not fully cover both eyes. For anothing thing, actually performing that squeeze is very difficult. I am surprised by the amount of force needed to squeeze his stomach and get his arms to rotate. It's far beyond what a child can easily do, so I'm stuck doing it every time.

And since the stomach is so hard to press, what my child does instead is to manually rotate Elmo's arms over his eyes. But when you do this, Elmo does not utter any phrases. He only speaks when you press (or release) on his stomach. They did not make these controls work in both ways.

Though I will say that when he does speak, the phrases are pretty cute.

I didn't like this Elmo. It's small and can be a little hard to press the middle part of Elmo. One hand doesn't go over the eye all the way, and it's not that engaging. Elmo is playing peek a boo, but his hands don't really stay over his eyes. There are better Elmo talking toys out there. Also, it's only $19 at Walmart ($35 on Amazon).

Got this for a great price with a lightning deal. Very cute, but you have to squeeze his stomach quite hard to make him talk and his hands move over his eyes. My 3 year old can not do it on her own so that is a little disappointing. Also only one hand covers his eye, the other one doesnt go over far enough...maybe I got a defective one?

We got this as a gift for our almost two-year-old daughter for Christmas. I was disappointed in this size of it - this Elmo is probably only 10 inches tall. The arms have a stiff wire in them to control the arms, so it's not very cuddly.

In order to make Elmo "peek-a-boo", you have to squeeze and hold his tummy, which is difficult for me, a 26 year old woman to do, much less my little toddler with only budding motor skills. I'm the one who ends up having to make him peek-a-boo for her, which she doesn't find enjoyable.

This is a toy more for an adult to play with an older baby with, not for toddlers who want to play independently.

This is the simplest "talking Elmo" toy in our house, and the simplest we've seen. It just makes noise when you squeeze his belly to make him say "Peek-A-Boo!"

One caution about this toy - it's too hard for my toddlers to effectively and consistently squeeze his belly to make him talk. It's best as an interactive toy allowing adults and children to play together. In that mode, parents of children from infant on up can hold the toy and interact with the child.

Overall, it's worth the price, but not our #1 favorite Elmo toy.
