I've bought several times here, and the price has now gone up and as another reviewer mentioned, the size has dropped from 14 lbs to 12lbs.

I've found a cheaper place online, a quick search yielded several alternate suppliers. This doesn't help the 14 vs 12 lbs deal but at least it's not what this is listed on amazon for at this time. I do hope the supplier on amazon catches a clue and reduces it to market rate, I'm very happy buying from amazon, but not paying this much thanks.

I had not heard of breed specific food before trying this and while I can see that there are differences in the nutritional needs between a large breed working dog and a teacup breed that is only a pet, I'm not sure I really see a need to break down a category into specific breeds. The variety I tried is Adult Labrador and in the interest of full disclosure, my dog is only half lab (the other half being Border Collie). She is not a food oriented dog so she free feeds, eating about once a day, usually in the evenings.

What I can say now that she has finished this entire bag of food (30 pounds) is that she looks approximately the same now as when she started. Her coat is shiny, her weight is perfect and she has plenty of energy (ball obsessed - need I say more?) In other words, I can't say I really noticed a difference in her. If she were more food oriented I could comment on whether she ate this with more or less gusto but her attitude to food seems to be that it is a necessity and eating takes away hunger pangs, but other than that, she could care less. I didn't notice any shift in that attitude while eating this bag of food, than the Diamond Naturals or Loyall Active I usually buy.

Two factors influenced the star rating I gave this food. First, I am disappointed by the composition of the food.Read more ›

The food is good, but apparently Eukanuba thinks that they have free access to their customers' wallets. I have three dachshunds, so reducing the bag by 14% and increasing the price by several dollars, like maybe as much as $5, forces me to buy something different. Thankfully it's a free market, especially at Amazon.

I really noticed a difference in my dogs ( I have 2) coat AND behavior. Their coats looked extremely shiny and healthy and they were truly more active and happy when they were on this food. Worth the price! I switched over to some diamond naturals to see how they liked it and it was clear it didn't compare to this exact food! Would definetly recommend to any German shepherd parents!!

We actually grind it up for her and mix with milk or something moist.

Not the greatest food, but not the worst either. It is expensive, though for what you get. My dog likes it and I like that the kibble is smaller so it's easier for my little Pomeranian to eat, but that's the only reason it gets 3 stars. For the amount you are paying for this food, you could get a much better quality food.

I'm sure some of you noticed that I fed this to my Pomeranian when it clearly says it's for Yorkies. Please don't post comments on my review with some silly notion that breed specific dog food is actually a real thing. It is a marketing ploy to get you to buy this special food for your special dog and since it's breed specific, they can charge more. Don't fall for it.

Out dogs have been on this food for the better part of 14 years. We have three dachshunds and I do believe the quality of this food is exceptional and has helped them live longer and happier lives. Our oldest is now 16 and our youngest is 6 so we have went through many types of food and have settled on this mixed with Science Diet and they seem to never be picky when it comes to feeding time. I would buy this locally and the reason I am buying this now through Amazon is because we can't find any stores that carry the 12 pound bags any longer. Everyone has 10 pound bags and they are still the same price!

So far I like it - she's still transitioning to it, BUT I can tell a massive slow down in her eating. She takes more time with it. She seems to really like it, but as ya'll know dachshunds will eat justtt about anything. ;) She's pooping a little less on this one than the other one so I'm hoping that means that she's absorbing more nutrients? Keeping an eye on it. Until I find out for sure I'll leave it as 4stars.
