I usually dislike silly tales that base their humor on absurd ideas such as two dumb people celebrating their marriage with a kiss after the husband covers his wife’s face with her vale and kisses her through the vale. But I liked this film. I am on a ship and the crew showed the film so I went to watch it. I thought it was funny. I even thought that most of the silly behaviors were comical in context. There were also some parts that were very sentimental such as Burgundy’s relation with his son. Most quirky but correct was the mockery that the film made of 24-hour news. I recommend the film.

Saw these actors on Jon Stewart and they were a riot, I thought I have to see that movie. Missed it in the theatres, so I purchased it on Amazon, despite the mixed reviews. My advice, if you have to see it, rent it, don't buy it! I should have heeded the 3 star reviews and just rented this. There were only a few times where I actually laughed while watching this film. I was disappointed. I actually had a hard time staying focused on it - it just didn't do a good job of pulling me in.

So rent it first, and if it fits your fancy, then buy it. But it wasn't the right choice for me.

"Anchorman 2," stars Will Farrell as Ron Burgundy. It’s an entertaining and hilarious spoof on the fare offered by 24-hour news channels. Set in the late 1970s, at about the same time as CNN's entered what was then the new world of cable TV, the movie parodies a phenomenon that has long since devolved into soft news or no news 24 hours a day.

Ron Burgundy and his fellow newscasters are likable bumblers who have a sixth sense for what people want––namely, a diversion from their boring lives. Burgundy and his crew provide these people this diversion in a way that is weird, funny, and entertaining.

If you want to spend an evening immersed in some harmlessly funny diversion provided by great comedic talents, this movie is for you. It is enjoyable inaneness that makes for easy watching, with some not so subtle commentary on the way news is presented today.

The first film had some original and genuinely funny moments and I was expecting something similar for this sequel. I would have been happy if this sequel maintained that level of silly and ridiculous. But this sequel is surprisingly bad. The fictional world they created is maintained and leveraged well in the first half of the movie. But the second half, which appears to be an attempt to be surprising, the story loses its way by breaking down their established in-world rules. This makes the film a little confusing and made me lose all desire to care about the characters or their circumstances. Another disappointment were the guest cameos, which are poor uses of the stellar talent recruited for this film.

Anchorman 2 is very hilarious and you will definitely laugh from beginning to end, but after it's over you will be left feeling just a tad disappointed. I recommend buying this movie if you love the first one. Some scenes felt rushed and some jokes were stretched really far. They also seem to just put some stuff together and call it good. I do recommend this movie for good laughs, but the first one is still better in my opinion.

While knowing that it couldn't be as pleasantly surprising as the original, and to be sure there were moments that felt a little too forced and derivative, this sequel still had some laugh out loud moments. If you're a fan of the first Anchorman this is still worth watching, even if some of the magic that made the first so adored is missing. Also, great big thumbs up to Kristen Wiig's small but brilliant turn as Chani. Amazing.

Anchorman 2 is certainly a 1-star film. I actually would have given it half a star, but after viewing this film I have become somewhat mentally impaired and not sure how to give a movie half a star…or no star at all.
Considering the talented cast represented by a non-stop parade of cameo appearances, there must be some back story as to why so many well-know and gifted actors would want to participate in this production (the cast parties must have been truly great). But none of this is visible to the viewer, of course.
Aside from some pointed satire at the corruption of the news industry, racial reconciliation and a dismal view of the TV watching public, there is little reason from this viewer’s perspective for this production’s existence in the first placed. It was only out of a morbid sense of curiosity that I allowed myself to continue to the very end.
A movie of this caliber has the unique ability by its mere existence to elevate such as Talladega Nights and Elf to the level of serious drama. Perhaps that was the purpose of Anchorman 2 - to set the bar so very, very low that everyone involved can point to this as the defining moment and say that this was the worst movie every member of the cast ever appeared in.
If you want to experience the very nadir of slapstick this is it.
Enjoy (Hint 3D glasses and sobriety will not improve the viewing experience).
