I have two dogs- Hank, an English Springer Spaniel and Austin, part Springer, part herding dog, part killer whale or moose or something else enormous. Both are rescue dogs and both live in a huge, fenced in yard outside. They really don't like to be indoors unless it's cold or rainy. Because of this, they are usually dirty and have mats. We only do a once a year shave down because Austin's fur mats in layers, which actually is like a protective armor against fleas and it keeps him cool. Hank needs to be brushed on a regular basis because his hair is much finer and he prefers a more regular grooming routine. Enough history- for the past 10 years, we have done through at least 6 lesser quality clippers. They get hot, they burn out, they just aren't tough enough and it takes me 2 or 3 sessions of an hour or more each to groom Austin.
TWO HOURS people... TWO! Not only is he groomed and bathed, he's HAPPY!!
I got the blade coolant spray from WAHL (also on Prime) and the AG Ceramic #7 blade, which stays cooler.
This unit is QUIET! Austin let me do his ears for the first time EVER with this clipper! I sit on the floor and shave them- Austin was laying on the floor and resting while I groomed! Hands down the BEST clipper so far!
I know I've only done one of two dogs, but again, TWO HOURS!! I recommend this clipper and this blade if your dog has thick fur. With Austin, the trick is to find where the base hair has grown from the mat and then I can shave the whole mat off instead of trying to go through it.
