They are designed in Germany and made there or in the Czech Republic and there are quite a few nice design elements that set it apart from the other brands: the finish is satin, not polished; the hex-bits and sockets have a dished design to increase drive force; the sockets have knurled ring to make it easier to run nuts on by hand; the small extension is a "wobble-drive" (sort of like a universal adaptor). Bottom-line is this is great set of tools in a compact case.

BTW, this tool set has the ratchet with the metal handle and the lever to switch the drive direction. They also make one with an ergo grip and one with a push-through drive design, both good, but I happen to prefer this style. There
