Do NOT feed these to your dogs, especially small breeds. After months of vet visits for a very sick Italian Greyhound suffering from weight loss, lethargy, weakness and fever, an endoscope inserted into her stomach to retrieve tissue samples from an abnormally enlarged small intestine revealed multiple pieces of the half of a mini chew that I had given to her over 3 months ago. One of the pieces actually came out with the endoscope when it was removed from her body. I stopped giving my dogs chew treats or Greenies early in their lives, as I believe they cannot be properly digested and can upset the stomach causing vomiting and diarrhea. I thought that these would be ok since they had been through clinical trials and were recommended by the Veterinary Oral Health Council (VOHC). Turns out the DVM who recommends is also a paid consultant of Milk-Bone. Big surprise. These corporations cannot be trusted, and you cannot trust these chews to not harm your dog. Our next step will likely be surgery to remove the foreign bodies, ie brushing chews, on a very weak and fragile dog.

Sarah, we're very glad that you reached out to our Consumer Affairs Team directly about this. Milk-Bone Brushing Chews are designed to break down in the stomach/digestive system, so your report is concerning. We look forward to getting additional information from you so that we can look into it.

My dachshund does not chew well and ate this in a couple of bites, and threw up the next day and even the day after that. Two restless nights.. A lot of dogs don't chew enough, so beware if your dog doesn't. I will not give them to her again. Janice

Hi Janice, we're sorry to hear about your dachshund's experience. Our team would like to look into this issue further - could you please share your contact information via our Contact Us form (http://www.bigheartpet.com/Contact/ContactUs.aspx) or call 888-645-5266 M-F? With any dental or long-lasting treat, it must be adequately chewed to be safe and efficacious. If your dog is gulping and not chewing the treat, we recommend you stop feeding it.

I thought these would be a great idea so I bought some a couple of weeks ago. I thought I'd try a couple the first week with my two mini schnauzers that weigh about 10lbs each. The next day, neither of them would eat. The day after, one had finally vomited up the undigested rubbery balls of the chew. I threw the rest away. I won't take any more chances on my dog's health by giving them these chews. It was a great idea but clearly not ready my my dogs.

I have three dogs, all mini schnauzers or schnauzer mixes. And two out of the three got very sick after eating one of these. Our older dog who is 16 threw up for a straight week and the 5 year old was sick for three days. It is very concering to a proud Schnauzer mama.

I bought these for my 10lb Dachshund and he loved it until about 1 AM the next morning. He vomited up large chunks of the leftover bone and has been lethargic all day. Do not buy this product. The company obviously did not do enough research and you could really hurt your pet by giving them these "treats."

I bought a box of this product and it made one of my Scotties throw up. Not realizing it was this product, we continued to give them to all three of our Scotties. Now all three threw up. Something is not right in this "brushing chew."

My small dog enjoys the regular Milk-Bone treats, so I hoped she'd like this. Like most small breeds, she has killer breath, so any help with that is appreciated. She loved the taste and had no problems eating it. The day after, however, she threw up chunks of this chew throughout the entire day. As others have said, there's something in these treats that adversely affects smaller dogs. These are definitely going in the trash.

We tried many different kinds of dental chews but this one seems to be a home run. We have a Maltese and we tried the Greenies and she seemed to chew on them at the beginning but by the time she eventually got a third one she usually hid it vs. chewing on it. Not the Milk Bone Brushing Chews. I saw them in a store and thought I'd try them because they are actually smaller than the Greenies Petite. She loves them and she doesn't seem to have any issues with digestion. Having something good to chew on is a plus when a dog is 13!
