I recently purchased this controller, the ADJ WiFly WLC16, because I thought it would be an upgrade to the Elation DMX Operator Pro controller, but after trying it out I found that it wasn't a complete upgrade. I say 'wasn't a complete upgrade' because there are some great advantages that it does have, but there are some features that aren't up to par with its predecessors. Here are the advantages and disadvantages that I have found with this controller (in comparison with the DMX Operator Pro).

Advantages:
-Obviously the built-in WiFly is very handy, especially with more American DJ products on the way that also have built-in WiFly.
-The 16 faders make it very convenient to control fixtures with more than 8 channels. On the Pro, you'd have to keep switching between fader banks since it only had 8 faders.
-You also have 16 scene buttons in a bank, whereas the Pro only had room for 8 per bank.
-It can control up to 16 individual fixtures (the Pro takes 8).
-I suppose it is also an advantage that it can handle fixtures that go up to 32 channels (although I don't how often people who use this type of equipment are faced with fixtures that have THAT many parameters).
-You can save your chases and scenes onto an SD card. So if you use and re-use multiple different setups for various occasions, instead of having to clear your board and reprogram each one every time, you can program for each setup once and save it on a different card. That way you can save yourself time a few hours of programming time and just swap out the card, and make minor adjustments if needed.
-You can also insert the SD card into your computer and make adjustments there if you want (I haven't used this feature myself, but it sounds like another handy tool).Read more ›

The WiFly 16C Wireless Controller is easy to use and offers a tremendous amount of self made pre-sets. There are no built in pre-sets. The individual lights listed in the manuals can be assigned to assigned sliders. Having access up to 32 channels per light gives you the ability to use the full extent of the number of channels built into each lighting fixture to control every aspect the manufacturer of the lights provided.

Cons: they left out the most used option every lighting tech needs and uses... THE MASTER DIMMER SLIDER!!
My Take: Most techs will use the SCENES and CHASES they created on the WiFly 16C and every tech is going to be adjusting the brightness of each SCENE or CHASE they select to adjust to the ambience of the room.
Solution: You have to create multiple SCENES and CHASES at varying levels of brightness. It can be done quickly and saved as another SCENE button. It's a waste of use of the SCENES and there are limitations on the number of CHASES. There is a workaround to this.
I consider this a FLAW in the design by the engineers who designed the final concept of this product. It would have been so simple to add a Master Dimmer option in the SCENE and CHASE mode and considering the importance and value of this time saving option it's a major blunder and the difference between an ingenious idea and a "good idea but could have added...." rating.

I'm keeping it. The wireless option is what I enjoy the most about it. Definitely a time savor and makes working with lights more bearable and enjoyable.

Awesomeness! After trying numerous computer and hardware DMX controllers this one actually works for my rig. I'm using 8 moving LED heads, 8 conventional par 56's, 4 mega bars and 2 LED pars for live music. I also have to run the sound system so, I don't have time to fiddle while the bands are playing. I set up this rig at a large gig 2 days after I received the WLC16 (along with a WiFLY transceiver) and had it all up and running in a few hours. I also use a Scene Setter 24 for small shows but, this may replace that as well. Very happy! Thank you ADJ and Amazon. Your services are very much appreciated and admired.
