Last week, I received the Ozeri Body Tape Measure and Body Fat Test Caliper Combo Pack. The tape measure measures up to 78 inches (200 cm) and the body fat test caliper measure up to 2 1/2 inches (60 mm).

I've been struggling to lose weight for two years with me hardly losing any pounds on the scale. I have a tape measure, but it is one of those cheap ones you find near the craft section in department stores. I have to roll the tape measure up after every use and it is a pain-in-the-neck, as when I put it in the bathroom cabinet drawer for storage, the tape measure unwinds. The Ozeri Body Tape Measure is an automatic one; all you have to do is pull the tape out of the hand-held plastic container. Once you quit pulling the tape, it will stay on the measurement. To retrieve the tape just push the the white button. The measuring tape starts the second inch, so whatever your measurement is, you'll have to add one inch.

I've never used a Bod Fat Test Caliper before, but it was easy to use. Do make sure that the little marker is set on the 2 1/2 inch mark before you use it. It is made of plastic, so you have to be careful not to break it.

Overall, I do like the the Ozeri Body Tape Measure and Body Fat Test Caliper Combo Pack. It will be easy to store it in a drawer!

I am an avid calorie counter but I hate to work out. I'm just too lazy for that. But I like to monitor my weight and found this really cool body fat caliper kit from a company called Ozeri that I received complimentary in exchange for my honest review. The kit includes a caliper, tape measure, and a chart so you can see how you measure up. Here is a video to show you how it works. *Warning, you will be seeing my white belly, so if you have any sunglasses you might want to put them on first.

The caliper is made of a light weight plastic and it counts from 1-60mm and 0-2-1/2". It is very easy to use.

To start: Use on dry skin with no lotion or oil on it. There is a little slider thingy that you have to move all the way to the right side of the caliper. Make sure you move that thing over before you measure. Then grab the skin on the right side of your body with your right hand and pinch it. Then press the skin you are holding between the caliper tongs and watch where the slider stops. Record your results and repeat to make sure you are getting roughly the same results.

Next you can use the chart provided to compare your numbers with your age range. It provides you with your body fat percentage and lets you know which range you fall into from lean, ideal, average, or above average.

If you are very heavy, they recommend that you use the tape measure they provide instead. This is actually a really nice tape measure too! The tape is housed inside a plastic case and you can stretch it around your body and clip it in a little notch on the case. And you can click the button to tighten it up. Ive read the other reviews about how cheap plastic these are and what not. This review is based on my experience with it not what the general norm towards this product is so if you disagree with my opinion, Im sorry.

I had decided to get this because 2 of my boys are starting puberty. I swear they are just as bad as girls when it comes to omg I getting fat! They want to be muscular and in shape and if they see muffin tops its all over in this house. I was expecting it to be high end at a price tag of $10 but honestly I dont want to spend a ton of cash for a metal one just to have my boys fight over it and possible break it.

So when you get these it comes with detailed picture instructions on how to properly do it. This was great in our house cause the boys dont want moms help (it was quite funny watching them try to do it to each other). It is a plastic caliper that is not high grade. It you are too rough with it you can break it. Does it do what it is designed to do? Yes. It is not made for obese people or people with skin folds over 2 inches (this is why I got it also cause my boys dont have lots of fat). So after my boys got their measurements they were able to look up their sizes on the sizing chart that comes on the back of the instructions.

As for the tape measure, it goes all the way to 79 inches. This is great for anyone-adult or kid. It can easily measure a waist, bust line, arm or leg circumference with no issues. I really like that when you pull on it and hear a click, that means its locked in place and wont zip back into the device when you are trying to measure it. The button on the front helps you unlock the tape so that it automatically rolls back up into the body for you. The numbers are large and easy to read.Read more ›

This is an inexpensive but very effective way of tracking your progress in fitness training and dieting.

The caliper is on the cheap side, but then, this is a very inexpensive price. It worked fine once I got the hang of it (I kept fumbling the sliding marker at first). The tape works great and is idiot proof.

There are plenty of resources online for how to use these tools to determine your body fat percentage, and I recommend using a spreadsheet, updated monthly or so, to track progress. I've found that the scale just doesn't tell the whole story. Often when I am getting in better shape my weight increases.
