Assembly is not difficult, but it is fiddly, and it will take time... especially once the hordes of children start interfering, micromanaging, and telling you that you're doing it wrong. If you can, do assembly late at night when the children are asleep and/or locked in their bedrooms.
Once assembled, there are a million special stickers to be put on in a million special places... for us, by the time assembly was done, we decided that the kids got the put the stickers on. The results were perhaps not precise or showroom ready, but the kids were overjoyed.
As soon as the vehicle was ready to be driven, there were tears. Tears from children fighting over who got to go first! Non-stop conflict over whose turn it is! Tears from other children concerns about the lack of seat belts (WHAT ABOUT SAFETY!?!). Tears from adults laughing too hard at the chaos and cracking beers.
This is a toy designed for fighting over... pink plastic perfect pitched to incite jealousy, rage, resentment... AND JOY! Yes, omg, so much joy. The noise isn't too loud. One neighbor pointed out that she could still hear the birds over the whining of the small motor.
In terms of operation, it's got two speeds and a simple reverse. Note that depending on your child's skill, they may or may not get it. One five year old spent an hour trying to master reverse, and ultimately gave up and focused on making a ribbon seat belt instead. At any given time, there were between 2 and 5 children on this vehicle, and it crept on and never felt especially unsafe to most of us.Read more ›
